Hello VoidDancer ! I believe that was an oversight on my part. I’ll let you know when I’ve gotten that fixed. Please leave things as is for now unless you want a different buff set from the pie.

Thanks!

in "PDO instance" error, please report! (go to post)
Update: I’ve disabled the code that deletes the bulk of old battle logs every time you start a battle. I speculate this was overtaxing the database and causing enough delay to result in more of the error.

Instead, the old logs except the most recent will be deleted in bulk daily late at night.

If you notice that the PDO error is still occurring (moreso than usual) please let me know and I’ll look into other potential causes. .

Thank you for your feedback! I made a change to the code disabling the part that may be slowing things down and leading to the error.

If you or anyone else still sees this error please let me know and I can test other possible culprits.

Thanks much!

in "PDO instance" error, please report! (go to post)
Call out to anyone who notices this issue, especially those who are experienced warriors!

There has long been a known issue where during battle you can get a "Can't swap PDO instance while within transaction" error message during battle. We believe this occurs when you manage to click "too fast", or fast enough that multiple commands go through for a single turn, causing an error.

One of our staff noticed that since this morning's DB update, they are getting that error message more frequently, despite clicking that their usual speed.

Other staff have not noticed this, but if ANYONE else notices this error happening more often than before please report it here.

If its a true trend, I suspect that the frequent "clearing" of the battleground logs that wasn't happening before could be slowing down the battle log database just enough to allow the error. The proposed solution in that case would be to be less aggressive about log deletion.

Your help is appreciated. Thank you!

in Resolved? Beginning battles Disarmed (go to post)
Hi answrs I think I know what is happening. What you are seeing is the original carry-over bug still manifesting in a situation where you have a villager going into DMM festival battlegrounds. You must be seeing a carry over of the silence effect or something similar from the previous battle.

The fix was to have it refresh all villager stats when you start a new battle. I believe this is simply not occurring with the DMM battlegrounds, so that carry-over effect is happening.

Seeing that the event is almost over, I’ll try to remember to fix this before next year!

Otherwise this should not be happening with the normal battlegrounds. Please do let me know if you see this happening in any of those as well!

Hi there, I'm a little unclear exactly what the bug or bugs you are reporting.

Can you give me an example of a specific item and what you aren't able to do with it, and in what situation?

Thank you!

As mentioned in the change log, there was a bug causing certain stats buffs, and negative statuses to carry over between battles in certain situations. This specific issue should hopefully be fixed. If not, please let me know!

I will leave this open for a few days before filing it away!

in Carnival Wheel Error? (go to post)
Unfortunately not much new to report.

The error message you are getting is basically a "the wheel failed to correctly register an outcome" output. Looking back to last year, it looks like players had reported this same error. However, the cause of those errors were reportedly fixed at the time. At least the causes that were known.

For example, having two instances of the wheel open on different windows and trying to spin them both had caused the error before.

I have been unable to reproduce this error myself and am not sure if what users are reporting now are even being caused by the same situation.

If you do notice this error please report it here with any special circumstances you can think of that may help me investigate what caused it.

In the meantime, for the sake of flavor, I changed the message to say "Awwww shucks I was not paying attention. It only counts if I see it, so better luck next time!"

So if Lucien says that to you, we aren't trolling you. It is a bug of a currently unknown cause. Please do report it here! Thanks!

in Keepsake and Outfit buffs! (go to post)
Hello!

Thank you all for your patience while we fixed some of the kinks with the updates mentioned in the news.

I want to elaborate specifically on the changes to career buffs.

First of all, no changes have been made to the buffs provided by costumes, including the DMM pie.

It is possible for keepsakes and outfits to give a buff, in any career.

For a list of all items that give buffs, you can search under category "Buffed" in the item museum.

Also, each villager can now carry up to 6 keepsakes and 6 outfits. A villager can have more than one of the same keepsake/outfit, and their buffs stack (more on the math on that below)

First, here are the buffs that these items can give to each career.

Alchemist Buff
The % increase in crafting speed the item gives (costume buff gives +30%)

Animal Husbandry Buff
The % increase in collection chance (costume buff gives +20%, baseline chance is 70%)

Blacksmith Buff
The % increase in crafting speed the item gives (costume buff gives +30%)

Construction Worker Buff
The % increase in crafting and repair speed the item gives (costume buff gives +30% crafting and repair speed)

Cook Buff
The % increase in crafting speed the item gives (costume buff gives +30%)

Crafter Buff
The % increase in crafting speed the item gives (costume buff gives +30%)

Doctor Buff (no current plans are in place to give doctor buffs until career is revamped)
The % increase in crafting speed the item gives (costume buff gives +5% potency bonus)

Explorer Buff
How many extra hourly explores the item gives (costume buff gives +5)

Herbalist Buff
The % increase in total yield the item gives (costume buff gives +20%)

Tailor Buff
The % increase in crafting speed the item gives (costume buff gives +30%)

Warrior Buff
How many extra max warrior charges the item gives (costume buff gives +5)

As noted before, these buffs can stack. Here is how stacking bonuses are calculated

Warrior and Explorer buffs simply add up. For example, if you have a buff that gives you +1 explore charges an hour, plus another that gives +2 explore charges, your villager will have +3 (or 23) charges an hour. The Warrior buffs add similarly.

All the other buffs either increase crafting speed, yield (Herbalist), collection chance (Animal Husbandry), or repair speed (Construction Worker). They do so on a percentage basis, and they stack proportionately as well. The percentages do not simply add together.

For example:

If your Crafter has a +25%, a +25%, and a +50% crafting speed buff they do not add together to 100% and thus result in instantaneous crafting. Instead, anything they craft will take 0.75 x 0.75 x 0.5 = 0.281 (or 28.1%) of the time to craft.

As a more realistic example, if you have five +5% crafting speed buffs, and you craft something that takes 100 minutes, you can expect it to take (0.95x0.95x0.95x0.95x0.95)x100 = 77.38 minutes to craft, rather than the 75 minutes if the percentages simply added together.

From just buffs, it would be impossible to ever get to 100% speeds and collection odds.

I apologize for the confusing arithmetic, but I hope that explains how stacking buffs are calculated.

If you do find something amiss with the buffs please let me know either here or in the bug report forum. This was a pretty big update so it would be easy for me to have missed something during the update.

Also, a quick explanation of how keepsakes and outfits sort on your profile:

There are six slots for each. Unfilled slots appear invisible on the profile. The slots will fill in from left to right. Any slots that are vacated by removing an item will also be filled in from left to right.

in Picnic Invitation Error (and OD maps) (go to post)
It is unclear to me what is causing this particular error, but it does seem to occur occasionally on apple mobile devices occasionally. This is for "maps" that activate explore events from your inventory, such as OD Festival Maps, and the Picnic Invitations. One known culprit is if you have more than one instance of an explore event still incomplete, which can cause the issue on PC.

If you experience this issue one thing I suggest you try is to go to your villager's Explorer career page. Where the Explore button would be should instead be an "Event!" button. By clicking that you should be able to continue the explore event. However, if you open a new map, that progress will be lost.

I will call this a Known Bug, but leave this thread unlocked if anyone else has additional information.

Did you by chance have another exploration unfinished from a previous event? (Specifically, if you used one of the Adventure wheels and had the window still open or clicked off it and did not complete the event?)

Hello Dragonsrus ,

The way we've been able to recreate the issue you are describing is if you have more than one window open that is using the Adventure Wheel. Is it possible you have more than one instance of the Adventure Wheel open on your phone's browser. On the iPhone it is easy to have lots of windows of your browser open without it being obvious.
