Nope! If you choose to switch careers, your progress will be saved!
Some tips:
Make Andrew and Ginger explorers. Explore with all 3 of your explorers hourly. This will earn you more FC. Once you feel like you've explored enough, go to your inventory and sell the items you got from it. You'll start to notice that you be getting hundreds-thousands of FC at a time. Also, I highly recommend doing art or something like that for people. If the person(s) deem your art is good enough, they'll be more likely to pay higher amounts of FC for it. I once got exactly 60k for basically a bust piece that was fully colored, and a few details were added. So, yeah. Also, if I seem off, it's because I'm incredibly tired.
