His name being Raaja is because, when I was younger, I would never refer to tigers as tigers, but instead, as "raaja' (extra long 'ah' sound in the first half, more of a "jha" sound at the end instead of just 'ja'), as raaja/raja means king in hindi, and, while my first language was English and I live in an English-speaking country (Trinidad and Tobago), my maternal family is Indian, and my great-grandfather would refer to tigers as "raaja", as he saw tigers as being the "kings of the jungle", and from that, I would also refer to tigers like that. And now, I still associate tigers with royality, and honesty, they do look regal..
