Herbalism Basics
(wip)
Herbalism allows you to plant seeds and use the plants in crafting. Each Herbalist starts with 50% mastery of every seed, which increases 5% with every successful harvest. This mastery decides how often you will succeed/fail a harvest.
If you've got an Herbalist, I'd also recommend that you have at least one Explorer, if you don't already! It makes it much easier to get seeds to start growing plants!

Getting Seeds
The seeds that you'll get from Explore will only be those from your village - one of five. Each village has 8 "normal" seeds that you can find via exploring, of 4 different rarities: common, uncommon, rare, and super rare. You'll find every village's seeds below.
Some explore events also have choices that can net you other village's seeds! For example: you can obtain around 2-5 random seeds from the Olde Foxbury "Castle" event by trying "Door 3" after trying the lever and then trying the door.
As for the seeds from the other four locations, to obtain them you will need to look elsewhere. Perhaps you have friend(s) in a different village! You could try to trade them for seeds you don't have! Or, you can purchase them from the market stalls. Keep in mind that this might get expensive for newer players, and it may be in your best interest to search for someone to swap with, if you'd like to keep your cash! If you're lucky, you might even be able to find some spare seeds at the Giving Tree.

The Career Page
Going to your Herbalist villager's career will bring you to a page where you are able to plant the seeds you've obtained! You can plant them one-by-one by clicking on an individual Empty Slot, or you can scroll down and click the blue "Multi-Plant Seeds" button, underneath your pots. There is also a Mass-Fertilize Pots button (though I'm not sure if that's only there if you have plants you can fertilize or not). We'll get to that later.
You will have 10 slots available to you when you start out. To increase this, you'll have to make or buy more. Above your pots to the right is the link to your seed book. This may or may not be useful to you, individually. I know it's helpful for me!
At the bottom of the page are your statistics, and the links to your Career Log and Achievements page. Your Career Log just shows recent plants you've harvested, their yield, when they were harvested, and whether they failed or not. I don't check it much, personally.

Additional Pots
As I mentioned, you start with 10 slots. To increase this, you will need to buy additional pots from the market stalls, or you can build them yourself, assuming you have wood planks and a villager with the Construction career. You can have up to an additional 90 pots.

Seed Book
Your Seed Book shows you every plant you've ever grown, what village it's from, its rarity, how many times you've harvested it, and your current mastery percentage. It also shows you an image of both the seed and the grown plant. It does not show you any plants that you have never grown. They will only show up once you have planted and successfully harvested(? need to test) them.
The Seed Book is very useful for keeping track of which plants you still need to get achievements, the success rate of growing a plant, and where the seeds come from.

Achievements
There are 6 Herbalism achievements for you to obtain:
  • Harvest 1 of each plant from your village
  • Harvest 1 of every plant
  • Master 1 plant
  • Master all plants from your village
  • Master all plants
  • Fail a harvest

None of these are particularly difficult to complete, so long as you dedicate the time (and/or money!) to growing every plant, and growing them enough times to master them. Each plant only needs 10 successful harvests to master, which may not seem like much, and if you're lucky, you may not fail very many of your harvests at all!

Alchemist and Doctor Careers
One of the main uses (and my favorite!) for the plants you will be growing is Alchemy! and for that you will, naturally, need an Alchemist! The plants and container you will need for an Alchemy recipe usually depends on which village the recipe is purchased in.(*) There may be exceptions to this that I am unaware of.(*)
For example, the Corvid Morphing Potion is made with 1 Eyeris, 5 Pot Plants, and 100 Venus Fly Traps, and also requires a Claw Container, because the recipe is purchased in Dragons Maw Manor.
Plants are also used in the same way for medicine in the Doctor career, however it is currently being revamped I hear and I will therefore not add anymore info on it until I'm sure this is still the case.

Other Uses for Plants
It is entirely possible I'm missing multiple uses for these plants! If you know of one, please ping/pm me and let me know and I will add it! :)
They are also used for cooking, however I've never done cooking on FV and therefore have no input.
On occasion, when completing a quest for Ix’kin Dawnseeker or Rasui they may ask for seeds and/or plants in exchange for their rewards.
You can also sell your extra seeds or grown plants in your stall for FurCash! If people buy them in bulk, the money can really add up. I would recommend stocking a lot of the seeds you more commonly come across, specifically those from your own village, especially if you have no other purpose for them.

Plantimal Basics and Information
wip
as i have recently rejoined the site after a 1-2 year hiatus (with some random logins here and there) i don't actually know much at all about plantimals and still have a lot of research to do on them! if you have information you'd like to share with me about them, please ping me (if the thread is open) or pm me (if it's not)! i'd love to receive any missing info about them! :)

What Are Plantimals?
Plantimals are pets that you obtain by growing them from special seeds! These seeds are obtained kind of similarly to normal seeds, but are more rare to come across. The pets that grow from plantimal seeds are not breedable.

Fancy Plant Drinks
3553-fancy-plant-drink.png3554-fancy-plant-drink-recipe.png
It is very important to note that they require a Fancy Plant Drink in order to grow! However, these are expensive to buy, especially to a newer player. They can be made by Alchemists, and have quite a few components:
  • 10x Compost
  • 5x Salt
  • 5x Emerald Feather
  • 25x Animal Fangs
  • 25x Fairy Mushrooms
  • 25x Hot Chocolate Packet
  • 25x Leather Boots
  • 25x Scuba Shoes
  • 15x Pea Algae
  • 15x Chomper Plant
  • 15x Flying Fur
  • 15x Iceberries
  • 15x Strange Celery
  • and 1000 FurCash!

Fortunately, many of these items are relatively obtainable and at least somewhat cheap! Plus, 5 of them are normal plants from each of the five villages that you can obtain seeds for grow pretty easily! Or you could just buy the grown plants off the market, but where's the fun in that?
If you plant one of these special seeds without having/using a Fancy Plant Drink nothing will happen until you fertilize it with one.

Obtaining Plantimal Seeds
To get these seeds, unless you buy them from a market stall, you must first have an Explorer, which I'm sure you do already! They only appear in special Exploration Events. Through exploration, you can only get a seed that is from your village and also corresponds to the current month.
For example, if you reside in Quetzal Palace, and it's March, you'd only come across the Radiant Cloviva Seed in your exploration event. But, if you were in Olde Foxbury during April, you'd find the Armoured Sudsy Seed.
You can, however, grow a seed that you've obtained from any village, as with any normal plant.
