About

A herbalist through and through, Amaryllis loves gardening and seeking the mysteries of the earth. A kirin morph, she is deeply attuned with nature and has a very gentle personality that, while strong-willed in its own way, can also swing towards extremely naivety. She is particularly wise about the events surrounding the Return, though she does not disclose from where her knowledge is obtained.

Jobs:
Herbalist - Herbology unlocks the mysteries of everything in the world. She just needs to plant the seeds.

Story:
"The Return was an event in the distant past, when magic returned to this world via the opening of rifts in the earth. Power from another world coalesced in these fields, forming pools of supersaturated aether. Over time the flow from the rifts stemmed and the aether left behind dissipated into the surroundings, enchanting objects of their choosing with otherworldly essence."

"Yes, I know of the history behind the event." Kyren interrupted, the new voice of impatience. Understandable, considering his - or was it a her now? - condition. Kyren's scaled tail flicked once, tapping rhythmically on the floorboards. "What I want to know is if a cure is possible."

"Anything is possible, Kyren. It is simply a matter of finding the correct answer," Amaryllis replied sedately, setting aside the watering can to gaze into the dragongirl's eyes. "Yet answers cannot be obtained without foreknowledge."

She paused. "Do you know the significance behind the first Turning?"

"Doesn't it occur because of skin contact with items that have been enchanted by the aether pools in the aftermath of the Return?"

"Close, but that is not all. When one touches such an artifact, the essence trapped within it is absorbed by their bodies. Because we as humans are constitutionally incapable of handling such power, that magic changes us to a more compatible form, influenced by the origin of the essence, and binds itself to that as a locus. It is the reason why the first cannot be reverted by any currently known means."

An attempt at recreation of the species from the other world, perhaps? Or something more. Even she did not know, despite years of dedicated research. Studying the plants metamorphosed by the arcane power did little to unveil the deepest parts of the mysteries, and if they did the wisdom came by slowly.

"If you truly intend to study the phenomenon for a possible cure, I have a rather large collection of articles on the subject in my library that you could take a look at." She stamped her foreleg and scratched at her fur, feeling the oily tangles and molting scales underneath. Ugh, disgusting. "In return though, I would like more of that Feathering Lotion. It seems like I've caught the Rot once again."

Kyren's look turned strange. "But you don't have any feathers..."
