Nerium oleander - Commonly known as Oleander. An extremely poisonous plant, but the deaths surrounding it are surprisingly few. Poisoning manifests as extreme gastrointestinal problems (vomiting, nausea, excessive salivating, stomach pains, internal bleeding, and occasionally colic), extreme heart palpitations that get slower and slower as poisoning reaction continues, central nervous systems becoming compromised, causing muscle tremors, seizures, collapsing, occasionally comas and eventually, if untreated, death. The sap from the branches can also cause mild skin irritation, and if gotten in the eyes, could cause blindness. Burning the wood causes the toxins to be inhaled through the smoke and can cause inflammation to the throat and lungs, causing suffocation and death.
