Vash was once a member of a proud monarchy of dragon hybrids. She served as a member of the royal guard for many years, after having worked her way up from a beast-slayer and protector of the common citizens. She was assigned to guard the crown prince, Nadrien, well into his reign over the kingdom. As the prince neared the age to take the throne, he took Vash aside and confessed a desire to form a more diplomatic rule. Vash emphatically agreed to back the prince, despite the rather treasonous attitude he held. The two formed a close bond of friendship throughout their time together. The king and queen were tough and nearly tyrannical in their rule, and many citizens gladly awaited their retirement. However, as the time came for the king and queen to step down, they spat in the face of tradition and insisted on maintaining their rule. Without another royal child to appoint, and unable to select a replacement heir, the kingdom turned to turmoil as a political stalemate settled. Tension grew throughout the land, as citizens took political sides about the morality of the situation. During the princes birthday ball, just a few short years into the conflict, the king and queen suddenly declared their child an exile, and all those who followed him traitors. They attempted to execute him on the spot, causing a kingdom-wide battle. Or, more accurately, a massacre. The prince had not anticipated such an attack. The prince evoked the power of their patron deity, in order to protect the lives of those who followed him. Their deity answered, pitying the prince and his followers attempts at peace. A shroud fell upon the kingdom, and every dragon within became frozen in time, encased in an ethereal crystal.
Eventually, Vash was freed from the shroud, alongside her prince. Several of his followers were freed with them, and they made their way out of their shrouded prison and into the world today. She still guards her charge today despite there being little call for it, unable to forsake her role. She works as a beast slayer on the side in order to make money, and has not yet been able to move on from her past.
