Villager: Skookum Sparkfang

The result of genetic experimentation, Skookum Sparkfang (designation "Experiment #001") was created in a United States government lab by combining human DNA with that of a spotted hyena. In order to give her a more human stature, the scientists that created her altered her spinal column and her shoulders and hips using advanced cybernetic technology, causing intense pain throughout her life, but successfully altering her posture. They then then added several genetic mutations to give her special abilities – inhuman strength, the ability to channel electricity into her claws and fangs from her cybernetic implants for highly effective shock attacks, and a dormant mutation that causes her to transform into an entirely different, almost demonic, creature when threatened or angered. She calls this alternate being "Spookum Darkfang," and struggles to keep the beast under control. She, along with many other experiments similar to her, were created with the sole purpose of being superweapons for the army. She endured countless hours of torture at the hands of her creator in an attempt to test what was designated as "the Hellhound Mutation," but she refused to let her anger get the better of her and let the beast loose. Finally, after almost twenty years of torment, laws were passed that stopped any scientists from creating and experimenting on these creatures. She and the thousands of humanoid animals that were the results of these experiments were granted citizenship and released to live their lives. These former experiments became commonly known as "Pescuminis" (singular "Pescumini). Most of them, like Skookum, adjusted quite well to their new lives, fitting in almost perfectly with the rest of society. For others, the psychological and physical damage done was simply too great. As such, Skookum and several others have sworn to protect others from what they called "the Dark Ones."
