Purnip is the founder of this little family. She took up exploration as her career to help get herself going, only to find Oliver along her travels looking as lost as a young fox could be. The two shared a brief chat and went on their separate ways, Purnip having recognized him from the town square where he was playing music the night before. Since then, she's run into him a couple of times along the way, until by the third she found him sick and nearly wasted away. She pulled him along to the medic in town to seek attention.
It turned out he was just a bit too proud to admit he's had no place to stay, and he ended up catching something living on the outskirts of town homeless. Purnip offered to take him in, to which he clarified it would only be until he could get back on his feet again.
Then the next thing they all knew, a family began to grow.
It began with Oliver of course, who as promised, took up carpentry to earn enough money of his own to move away someday. Not long after he settled in however, Purnip came back to a distressed fox and a bewildered wolf. The wolf, Claus, was seeking shelter from some foul weather outside--but that wasn't the most concerning thing about him. He was caked in both mud and blood, which he nervously grinned and implied wasn't his own when she offered bandages.
Oliver tried to convince Purnip to hand him over to the proper authorities, but Claus begged and pleaded with her to let him stay, that he would get better, that all he needed was a second chance.
So the passive, trusting dragon gave the poor boy a home. Keeping a very close eye on him, of course, and setting him to work on the fields. He's been doing a fine job of learning how to work in botany. It appears he even knows how some of these things can be alchemized into certain chemicals and compounds...
As for Donovan, he was actually asked to stay. Purnip was chronically catching diseases out on the city limits and the swan-like dragon was looking for a temporary place of residence to hone his craft near enough to a Dragonsmaw' university where he still studies. She appears to be tolerant of his attitude, but of the three who live with her, she speaks to this one the least.
Donovan's sister, Evette, is a far more pleasant conversationalist and a treat to spend some quality time with. Aside from his medical expertise, the best thing that came with Donovan was his sister.
Purnip never expected this large a family, but she doesn't mind it as long as everyone keeps to themselves without making too many waves. When it comes to herself, she's pretty quiet, rather creative in her own right, but she is very content to keep exploring no matter what the cost. Purnip is capable of shapeshifting into most other creatures, however her color and pattern always remain the same, even when taking a human guise. She considers herself a dragon above all else.
