About
My beloved recently deceased beagle named Ivy was a loyal, faithful pet for 6 years of my life. She was a rescue and we adopted her when she was around 6 years old. When I saw her for the first time, she was pressed against the bars of her cage with her large, sad brown eyes staring at me, begging me to love her. We brought her home that day. Her name at the shelter was Lil' Bit, but I renamed her Ivy, in honor of one of my favorite Warrior Cats, Ivypool. At first, she was a little demon, not house trained, scared of every sound, she even used to jump on top of the kitchen counters and knock food down for her and my other dog to eat. But after a year or two, she got adjusted to life as a loved dog, not a stray, and formed a special bond with my mom. Ivy would follow her everywhere, upstairs, downstairs, into the bathroom, and she would panic when she couldn't find her. She had severe separation anxiety, she couldn't bear to be away from us. In 2015, she escaped from my grandma's house when we were on vacation. We were scared out of our minds, because we couldn't do anything about it. She was gone for a whopping 16 days in the heat of the fields of Vacaville. When we got her back, we loved her and cherished her until almost exactly a year later, 2 days from the anniversary of when she ran away, Ivy went into heart and kidney failure, and we had to put her down. To this day I miss her, even though we still have our other dog of 9 years and a brand new 10 week old puppy. The rose on her collar survived her 16 days in the wild, and was on her neck the last time she would ever see the light of day.

Oh my, your story about Ivy has touched my heart! A little over a month ago I lost my precious beagle, Belle. She was a very special dog and so un-beagle like, she was a gem! She simply appeared on our doorstep one night the day before Halloween and it was love at first sight. She potty trained quickly and never let us out of her sight either and was an angel off leash. She also passed of kidney failure. Now I have a new precious furbaby, another beagle named Bunny..8 weeks old now and I'm pretty sure an alligator in disguise lol. She's a sweetheart regardless and the kicker..she was born the day Belle passed away. It sure seemed meant to be! Anyway, it has warmed my heart to find another beagle story almost similar to mine <3
