About

Note: This villager is the tool for me to learn about the indigneous people of my region. Any and all inconsistencies are not intentional, and I welcome input about this one's characterization and backstory to make them more accurate.

They / It / She (depends on the spirit)

Tuu is a strange thing. After drowning in a river during a fishing trip, her body was found and mourned upon. Her people, the Slavey nation of North America, traditionally placed her body in a tree. Shortly after, while her spirit was leaving her body to join her kin in afterlife, an accident happened where a passing black bear absorbed her into it's body. Two spirits inhabit this body, and while they are still learning from each other, they adjust to life in one body where one spirit is not always in control.

Tuu, unable to remember her previous form's name but able to recall her native language, did remember the events of her death. Knowing the word for water, she called herself a spirit of water. Tuu is a native word used for water and refers to the body of these two spirits, but also the drowned spirit of the native girl in specific.

The bear's spirit, who is learning verbal communication over time, has yet to select a name for itself. The drowned girl calls it Tuu as well until it tells her it's name.

(A note on their gemder: I know that Two-Spirit literally means transgender of varying definition. I am not calling Tuu Two-Spirit because the bear's body is literally inhabited by two spirits. I call them this because both spirits represent more then one gender, and that is the correct definition as I understand.)
