Luna used to have a proper family. Her mate was wonderful, if a little cowardly, her children were beloved by both parents, and they had many friends. But that was before her mate started to grow distant, spending more and more time away from the pack. She followed. He was not cheating, as had been her initial assumption. No, he was a twisted version of himself, crouched over the body of a young pup.
He saw her and bellowed, she ran in fear. When he returned he acted as though nothing happened, and she almost began to think herself having made it all up, that she was only being silly, until she caught him staring right at her when none of their children could see, his eyes unnerving. And she knew that he knew.
She did her best to protect her family, but it was not until the nearby village waged war with some of her mate's associates that she ever knew the truth. She had been bedded by a demon, and the only reason he had not taken her children from her as well as her own life was because of the presence of an angel nearby. Said being chased off the beast she had allowed to father her children, and her children never knew the truth. Much to her relief, they were no different from any ordinary wolf, despite their heritage. Their father had taken a wolven form to bed her, and so only wolf blood ran in her children's veins. She is now the lone alpha, so to speak, of her family, taking charge of her many children. She has since had more pups, fathered by a passing male, but she will take no mate. She has had too many foul experiences with such things.
