A monster created by man.
Mannegishi was once a simple horse with mere magical components. They lived in a faraway valley with a tribe of monsters, under the protection of a Guardian of Nature; specifically, the Guardian of Light.
Everything changed when man infiltrated the valley.
They were a group of benign researchers, there to kidnap monsters or innocent animals and subject them to unfathomable tortures to develop offbreeds, or study the unstudiable.
The young horse was cut into and abused, destined to be the new, dying nesting grounds for a particular species of vulture - but they bounced back. The testing turned them into a mouthbelly, and a mishap with a chemical tapped into strong powers that even they didn't know they had. Filled with rage, they ravaged the institution that had held them hostage and fled.
Now considered a mutt among the common folk, it took them awhile to find a proper home, finding themself mocked almost everywhere they went. They adopted robes to hide their second mouth, and practiced their magic, taking on a cruel lifestyle of thievery.
It wasn't all bad. They were taken in by an elderly couple; an ex-explorer by the name of Adelaide, and a dragonian blacksmith going by Caoel. They treated Mannegishi like their own child.
