Its not that Flake is dumb..hes not, not really. He's just lived on his own in the wild snow wastes for so long that he just doesn't understand how to interact with people. So when he spies Solstice hiking through what he calls his territory, he decides hes lonely and needs that pretty kitty as a pet.
So he kidnaps him.
