Villager: Penelope

A literal hooded rat approaches you, a dark green cloak billows around her shoulders and the hood falls back with a gust of wind.

"Hey! You! 'M name's Penelope. I'm in charge of the Eastwater Refuge, and I'll be the one who gives you a look around.

The air chills your body, causing you to shiver.

"If ya need somethin' ta eat, I'm sure Sweetclover or Maud can rustle up some grub. Let's head to the main building," she says.

You follow along with the self-appointed leader of the Eastwater Refuge. She mentions a moth named Moonbeam helped her found the small community.

"Me an' her were born and raised in good Olde Foxbury, There's somethin' beautiful about always havin' it as the place I can come home to."

You ask her if she's gone a lot, and the rat nods.

"I love home, but I've just always had this itch to explore. No, don't get me wrong: the Eastwater Refuge will always be my priority, but I have a feelin' there's somethin' out there I have to discover.

"Ask around, and everyone will tell you 'm always bringin' something home that improves on the place."

Following her, you weave between several brick houses, some newer than others, before coming to a set of four larger and clearly more secure ones in the center.

"These are me, Moonbeam, Khatih, and Gero's places. If you ever need help, come to one of us. I might not be home, but they always will be here," she says, and her voice sounds wistful.

Her tone leaves you with questions, but you have no time to answer them as she shuffles you along the nearest one.

"Actually, let's have my husband Khatih look at you before we put the cooks to work."

It's going to be a long day of introductions.
