Species Lore:
Godraki originated as robots made for races and dogfights. They are built for speed and endurance, with metal armor covering their top half and rubber with treads like tires protecting their legs. Their top shell acts like a solar panel, charging the battery inside of them. Their headlights function in the same way a car's would, though they're mostly for looks since Godraki use infrared sensors to 'see' the world around them.
Not long after their creation, a catastrophic event occurred. A virus of unknown origin was spread through nearly the entire population of Godraki, rewriting their AI and freeing them from their masters. Those affected escaped into the environment. Now most of them roam the wilds like animals. They aren't terribly smart though, and they tend to simply pick a general direction and run until their battery goes dead in the night and they collapse.
They usually avoid humans, though some have been able to capture them and take them back to civilization. After the virus incident, they stopped being built until a better way to protect them from hackers could be found. Because of this they are quite rare in cities, but the ones that were fixed or unaffected by the virus still live with humans. After their AI has been restored, they are usually sold on the black market, often to collectors or to people who can afford a very expensive pet.
