Personality: Aloof and pragmatic, Matilda lacks the bedside manner of many doctors but she does have the intelligence and confidence one would like to see in the person responsible for their life. Matilda finds the war between disease and medicine fascinating and she could talk about it forever (and she likes to when she has a captive audience like a sickly patient).

She is very hard on herself when she slips up or fails all together. She tends to become quiet and reclusive after she makes a mistake and won’t resurface will she has an explanation and remedy.

History: Matilida started out life as a curious great horned owl. She was a Dragonsmaw native and always had an interest in medicine. Given the plethora of odd and grotesque diseases floating around she had many opportunities to watch doctors at work first hand. When she was old enough she began to experiment and eventually she caught the attention of a local physician who took her under his wing and aided in her education.

Once she was officially qualified, she began to practice medicine as a traveling doctor. When she wasn’t curing illnesses she was experimenting with other aspects of medicine like morphing potions. Bad weather stranded her in the backwater township run by Mal and company. There she made a terrible mistake while mixing a morphing potion. The super strength potion turned the owl into a beast… After she recovered from the initial transformation she worked for a short period of time to fix herself but it was all in vain.

Matilda kept her feelings on the incident private but after deciding the situation was permanent she set down roots in the town. She can now be found in her old caravan style wagon. She primarily practices medicine now and has left experimenting with potions to her protégé Balder.
