Nox has fallen ill with Warrior’s Plague. Number of explorations per hour is halved. This illness can be cured with Leech Blood.

About

He tugged on one mangled ear anxiously, glancing around the market square from his perch in the alleyway. He could feel the eyes on him, but he couldn’t tell where they were coming from, and that made his paw twitch towards where the rake rested on his back (a Kumade, technically, but the layfolk didn’t need to know any better).

It was less of a matter if IF than WHEN. It always was.

“What’re you doing back here?”

Nox would only admit to himself that he jumped.

“Raechi,” he hissed, a paw pressed against where his scarf covered his heart. His nose only came up to her shoulder. He would feel trapped in a corner if it was anyone but her, “Don’t DO that.”

She laughed. Nox’s whiskers twitched. “For such a paranoid guy, you sure are easy to sneak up on.”

“I was expecting someone else.” He’d said it more to himself than to her. He glanced out over the crowd of shoppers and browsers and hawkers when he thought he heard an awfully familiar laugh in the distance. He didn’t see what he was looking for.

“I thought you wanted to go check out those ruins today.” The otter had dug a rolled up piece of parchment from her knapsack.

“Fine – I mean…I did – I do.” He snatched the paper out of her hand. “And you’re not in charge of the map anymore – not after you lead us into that adder pit last month.”

She laughed bashfully behind him. “So, uh. Who were you expecting if you weren’t looking for me?”

“No one.” He’d answered too readily. He could see it in the way Raechi deadpanned back at him. “Just…someone. My friend. Sister. Sort of.”

“Sort of?”

“She can be quite the prankster.” Nox cleared his throat. “Now are we heading out or do you wanna keep shooting the breeze in this grimy back alley?”

Non relaxed a little when she let him redirect the conversation. The faster they get out of Foxbury, the less likely it was that his shadow would be able to tag along all the way to the ruins. Raechi made an amusing sound as he dragged her deeper into the alley. He would take the long way around his usual routes, just to throw their tail off. Anything to keep Kug out of trouble.
