Oliver is a determined young man - too determined, actually. Oliver had grown up dreaming to be a doctor, to help the people of Oceandome in times of need. However, he'd always believed in climbing the tower instead of taking the stairs.
In that case, Oliver wanted to learn everything from the bottom to the top.
Explorers gathered materials for everyone in Oceandome to use at their disposal. Understanding what seeds were used for what cures was just the beginning of becoming a doctor to Oliver.
Herbalists planted the seeds the Explorers found on their explorations. Knowing what plants were useful for what potions became an obvious source of knowledge for becoming a doctor.
And with the materials from Herbalists, cures can be made. Oliver's dream isn't going to be quick, but once he achieves his dream he'll know he'll be one of the best doctors in all of Oceandome.
