Fearless, agile, and slightly self-obsessed, Samson is a force to be reckoned with. He may be the youngest villager to live in the House of Rain, but his tenacity and enthusiasm more than make up for whatever downsides age presents. He was born and raised in a family of warriors from Dragonsmaw, but chose to be an explorer instead.
Truth be told, Samson would love to be a warrior. He adores the idea, really, and he'd probably be pretty good at it. However, he was born with six fingers on each hand, and the surgery to remove them left him with an awful throbbing whenever he holds a heavy object (such as a sword or shield) for an extended period of time. Slipping items into a pack is one thing; fending off monsters is quite another. The botched surgery also left him with his one and only fear-- doctors. He does hide this rather well, though it's notable that he is rarely if ever seen around Briar.
Anachronic originally offered to repair Samson's hands. The offer itself was tempting and the cat let it sit for several days as he mulled it over. However, Samson is a strong believer in the strength of oneself, and he's made himself what he is today despite his disabilities: asking for his hands to be healed felt like cheating. He accepted Anachronic's second offer, which lets him go visit his family in Dragonsmaw whenever he wants (a sort of set-location teleportation).
