Villager: Percival

D R . P E R C I V A L

Pervical is an aspiring doctor with a heart of gold. He aims to please his customers the best he can and works hard alongside Lotus, a herbalist moon bear, to help him develop medicine. He is a bit of a klutz and somewhat of a nervous wreck, but that doesn't stop him from getting things done.

The rookie medic, with a hobby for experimenting with plants and reagents, ended up concocting a very potent mixture which he had never before encountered while working late at night. He had been working to produce a mixture to remedy a fellow villager's ailment, but ended up producing something far from what he had set out to make.

After crushing the stalk of a foul-smelling flower and peppering the petals into the bottle, the liquid seemed to bubble, effervescence rising to spill from the lip of the glass. Percival, having never made anything like this, examined the compound with skeptical eyes, looking back over at his notes. He was sure he had followed the recipe correctly, but something didn't seem right.

The doctor held the potion between his paws to carry it over to where there was more light, eager to test the contents of the mysterious compound. Percival, being his clumsy skunk self, tripped over his swishing tail, letting out a small "oof" as glass shattered to the floor and the fluid splashed out, staining his snowy pelt. Immediately his skin felt hot and flushed, and the doctor's voice rang out in pain as a fiery sensation crawled beneath his skin and into his bones.

Percival promptly began to morph, writhing in pain in a very Mr. Hyde-esque fashion. His pure white fur began to darken, shrouded in splotches of black and brown, and his teeth sharpened and jutted out between his lips. Hunched over and panting, he looked into the reflection of the shattered glass at his feet to notice that he had changed into what he could only describe as vicious. He was no longer a bushy-tailed skunk, but a wolverine with beady eyes and powerful claws.

Partly terrified and partly intrigued by what he had managed to do, the doctor began to work on a cure to turn him back into his familiar skunk body.

Days passed and Percival had been hopelessly chugging potion after potion, hoping that he could somehow remedy the mistake he had made, but to no avail. The chemicals he forced into his system began to bring out strange, luminous colors in the wolverine's coat, eventually leaving him looking nothing like his former self. His fur, painted with streaks of neon blue and green, has not reverted back to its natural hues since, and Percival has only grown more curious and frustrated.
