Kumagera is a big and gruff bear who may seem intimidating at first, but when you start to know him he's actually not at all that scary. He sure does wear a lot of interesting items on his outfit, but it is not just for show.
As a child, his father gave him a red oni mask as a parting gift when his parents had to divorce, leaving Kumagera with his mother. Out of anger, Kumagera's mother slapped the mask out of her ex-husband's hands, shattering the left side of the mask. Undeterred, Kumagera picked up the mask and wore it on the side of his head to spite his mother and to remember his father. Over the years, Kumagera decided to collect foreign and rugged accessories to irk his mother, knowing that she would loathe anything that would remind her of her ex-husband. The red oni mask, however, takes the cake.
Kumagera managed to finally move out of his mother's home. Free from the wrath of the witch! Today, he just works on construction projects for his group members. Tengu and Inari always find enough Frozen Wood Slabs to provide Kumagera's projects, which makes him happier than a child with candy. Light and Flannel love to mess around with Kumagera, stealing and hiding his wooden hammer within the mountain of unfinished and abandoned projects, pushing him to work harder. He can also be seen hanging out with Reina F. Odoria, fidgeting with a flat head nail out of nervousness, his group members snickering and silently cheering him on.
