The unfortunate offspring of a Unicorn and a Kelpie, Loch does not fit in well amongst magical creatures. His mother, a pure Unicorn was tricked by a particularly nasty Kelpie into believing he was one of her own kind. Realizing her mistake, Loch's mother abandoned him to cope with the shame of the act, leaving him to fend for himself. As a hybrid he retains some of his mother's magic and his father's shape-shifting ability, but is considerably less skilled at both.
On his own Loch became meek and reserved, choosing to drift along the dark weeded coasts of enormous lakes, away from judging eyes.
