Cello always wears gloves. Without them, she runs the risk of accidentally resurrecting the dead, simply by touching them-- a gift that doesn't seem bad at first, in fact, it actually seems quite wonderful, but its true nature is nothing desirable.

Once Cello has touched a dead thing--whether that be a person, plant, or animal--it will breathe again. But no miracle is without consequence; any soul which has been revived by Cello's mystical touch is doomed to rot away into nothing.

The process is slow but steady. First, the memory goes. Then, the hearing and vision. Eventually the personality is lost as well, leaving Cello's walking corpse nothing more than a shell of what it had been when it was truly alive.

But Cello isn't lucky enough to have that be the end of it. No-- instead, she is forever followed by those she has revived, limping along like zombies in her wake. So she never stops moving, she never settles down; a day here, a day there, she can't stay anywhere for too long.

No matter how hard she tries, the guilt is always one step ahead of her, waiting.
