About
((please bear with me for now, I plan to rewrite these bios later;;))
Anyone's first impression of Cureno probably isn't the best. When meeting new people or talking with people he's unfamiliar with, he defaults to being arrogant and impolite. Due to travelling with his friends- Aphelion, Perihelion, and Miendrel(?) -for so long, he's also adopted the trait of becoming nervous around strangers, which was out of character for him before.
Cureno is easily the oldest of his party. He stopped counting his age (nor does he remember his birthday) and as time goes on, he steadily loses his oldest memories. This used to bother him, but he's reached the point where he doesn't care anymore because there's just nothing he can do about it. He also doesn't know why he can age indefinitely, but having been through several near-death experiences, he's come to the conclusion that he isn't immortal.
Sometimes, he has dreams of what he's sure is his earliest memories. He has yet to share these dreams with anyone in detail. The other villagers only know that this occasionally happens and that he's troubled about it.
Cureno identifies as a witch. A sea witch. If you try to tell him he's a sea "wizard", he'll probably hate you. He spent a good chunk of his life living in the sea, granting wishes to people. He refers to this as his old job. Back in the day, he used to be quite the legend, but since he quit granting wishes openly, he's become nothing more than a rumour or myth. He's okay with this. The topic of what he used to do makes his friends uncomfortable, and because of this, he won't talk about it when they are around. Otherwise he doesn't mind openly talking about his past.
This guy's magical capabilities are pretty impressive. He doesn't know the exact extent of his powers (Using too much energy puts his life at risk, so he doesn't test that often) but with just his life energy alone he can accomplish many spells. However, his greatest skill in magic comes from manipulating blood. Usually, it's his own blood. He doesn't talk openly about spell's he's done using... different blood. Because of this, his hands are almost entirely covered with scars. He has other various scars on his body, too.
One more thing: he does dabble in another practice of magic that he claims has to do with the "possibilities" of the world he's in, but he has yet to explain this clearly to anyone, or show how it works.
His relationships with his friends are peculiar.
Aphelion seems to be the one who introduced him to the other two in their party, and convinced him to travel with them. They haven't talked much about how they met, but Cureno has a deep respect for Aphelion that he doesn't seem to have ever had for anyone else. Cureno would lay down his life for Aphelion in a heartbeat. He speaks respectfully to and (usually) around Aphelion, and tries not to start any mischief around him.
Cureno has always gotten along with Perihelion. They're close enough that she can tease him and he won't react in a hostile way towards her. He worries about her a lot in battle (she can be quite reckless, despite his nagging) and will insist to braid protection spells into her hair. (he would do this for Aphelion too, but unfortunately his hair is too short). Even though he's not very skilled at combat with weaponry, he spars with Perihelion whenever she asks.
His and Miendrel's relationship is complicated. Originally, their personalities clashed and they constantly started conflict among their group. Their mutual respect for Aphelion kept them from leaving, but there was a time where they couldn't stand even looking at each other. They both seem to have not realized this is no longer the case. They know each other so well, they can have an entire conversation with a few exchanged looks and gestures. Also, there's this rumour going around that they were involved somehow in creating a child together. They both deny having any connection to the child in quesiton, Mikkel, but based on their reactions, the rumours haven't died down.
Cureno has a fondness for Mikkel, despite his claims that he is not the boy's parent in any way. Mikkel treats Cureno like his father, and, Cureno in turn contradicts his statements by allowing Mikkel to act this way. The only time you will ever find Cureno speaking in a soft tone, is with Mikkel. He taught him for some time in magic, though Mikkel mostly dabbled and only really caught on with magic's aesthetic.
He doesn't have enough of an opinion of the other villagers yet. He prefers them to leave him alone.
