Patches and his dragon pet were wandering past the caravan one day when he happened to spot a notice tacked to one of the wagons. Nicholas had come into possession -- through entirely legal means, of course -- of a number of animals from various lands and had absolutely no idea how to care for them.

Luckily, the red panda was familiar with most of them and quickly joined the caravan where's he's been expanding its menagerie ever since. Of late, he's also been taking gardening lessons from Cory so the skunk can spend more time working as the group's blacksmith.
