Van is a FtM transgender hyena, and so would greatly appreciate if he/him pronouns were used.
life was tough at first for Van. he knew from a very young age that he was a he and not a she like his parents called him, but it took him years to get it across to them. when they finally understood they embraced him, vowing to protect him and start using his current name and pronouns. when Van moved away, no one knew his dead name or his dead pronouns, and for that he is grateful. he passes well and is constantly in stealth, hoping nobody will look up his past and see his old self.
Van is determined and strong because of his experiences, often coming off as a bit aloof or rude. he tries his best to be friendly, but he doesn't like getting close to other animals and will often break off friendships or budding romances.
