Maisie has always had low self-esteem. There's never been a time where she's thought she could do what she sets her mind to or even succeed at the simplest of tasks. Ironically, despite this she is the most nimble fingered and capable crafter and creator of her family, due to the fact that when they were younger jobs like that were often shoved off on her.
Even though she has a low opinion of her own capabilities, Maisie is usually average or above average at anything she attempts. Even if one were to praise her for hours on end she'd still find it hard to believe that the work she does is good, resulting in frustration for many folks who have attempted to befriend her. Because of this it can be quite taxing to be her friend.
However, once you get to know Maisie, she is shy and sweet and does her best to make others happy despite having trouble being happy herself, and because of her diminutive size she tends to attract protective types as friends.
