Button is a quiet and reserved being, enjoying silence above anything else, and barely speaking. Being a reused AI from the leaked backup of a relatively important android, he was created to destroy the remaining scattered population.

When his mission had just started, he was joined by a train-sized centipede, who was created by the same group of humans. About 1/6th through it, he was attacked and deactivated for about a week, still in his wolf form. Once he powered up again, he had been taken in by a fleeing family of 3; Husband, Wife, and a little girl. Button wasn't sure what to do. He had been taught and told that he should kill humans on sight, yet they had shown him kindness, which he hadn't experienced before except from other abiotics.

In the end, he helped the family escape from the state. Though he faked reluctancy, he grew close to the girl and her mother. The mother had told him his personality reminded her of her brother's son, although she "hadn't seen him in a while". He hadn't been able to shift back into a human, but he didn't particularly mind being the "family pet" either. Once the three were safe in one of the most established camps, he said his goodbyes, and returned to the previous rural town he had lived in with Loketh, telling narratives of what had happened with the humans, and speaking more than 5 words per sentence for once. This impressed his ally, and convinced him to stop with the bloodshed they had begun.

Instead of following the orders given, they decided to stop obliterating the life around them, and tolerated humans, to an extent. Though the bloodstains hadn't been washed away from him, he let a few of the "creatures" stay in the shack nearby. They bothered his friend a lot, but at the same time didn't do much besides grow plants and fight with each other. They also reported them multiple times to another unknown group, Loketh had caught the transmissions and shown him. Eventually,
his friend had also decided that it was better for them to die, than continue affecting the wildlife of the town.

That was the time the others came in.
