No, that is not actually a tail, it is a parasitical leech that has attached itself to her. Though, it does act like a tail - it wiggles when Grottie's heart rate increases, and grows sluggish when there isn't much blood flow, as it feeds from her blood. It can talk, though not when latched on, of course. Usually, it looks like a regular tail, but if you pull back it's lips, it will reveal teeth, gums, and a very bruised rear end.
She's scared of leeches, completely disregarding the one on her backside; this is because the leech injects her with a mix of minor anaesthetic, anti-clotting enzymes, and a calming solution so that she sees it as a friend. I mean, it kind of is, considering it gives her advice, and is a completekiss ass/suck up.
The leech is actually called 'Mangeur du sang', but calls himself Dusang so that he will not upset Grottie. She is very skittish.
