When Phobos was born, he was just an ordinary alley cat. He was found and adopted by a kind-hearted college student looking for a companion while he went through classes. As he got older though, it became clear Phobos was anything but ordinary. He was smart, far smarter than any normal cat, and it seemed like he could almost understand what his human companion was saying at any given moment. Then one day his tail split in two, and he was reborn as a nekomata. Now he could speak like a human, and voice his own thoughts and opinions. His owner marveled at the novelty of having a magical pet cat, but he didn't take Phobos seriously at all otherwise. Phobos became bitter, angry that he wasn't being treated like the respect he thought he deserved. He started lashing out, breaking things, hissing and scratching at his owner. One day he had enough, transforming into a massive hellbeast, devouring his owner, burning his apartment to the ground.
Since that day he's gained the ability to take on the appearance of his previous owner, though this form has been changing little by little each day into something uniquely his own. Now he wanders the world, both physically and in the cyberspace, looking for a new place to call his own.
