Razor is infected with
Lycanthropy. Changes into a beastly monster after exposure to moonlight or especially frustrating board games. Howling at the moon relieves the symptoms for a little while, but use a Golden Apple for best results.
About
Draco shook his feathers as he sat his pack down. He had just come back from exploring the area, finding a few things that would need to be distributed among the other villagers or stored in their communal storehouse. He was hot, tired and needed a drink.
He headed into his house to get something cold, exiting to sit in the shade and let the gentle breeze waft through his jungle green feathers to help further cool him off.
He heard a muffled voice and blinked. Red was slithering toward him, his crest nearly flat as the sea serpent dragged his pack of findings in his mouth.
Dropping the pack and raring up a bit, Red stuck his tongue out as he made a face. "I love my new form but, man, I really need arms . . . "
"Who knows? Ask Frost? She might be able to come up with something?" Razor offered.
Red bobbed his grey mottled head. "I found something interesting when I was drinking at that lake. Go ahead and get it out of my bag, please. You'll know it when you see it."
Razor nodded, setting his drink down. He opened Red's pack and searched, blinking at the unusual crystal. "Wait, what? There's liquid inside?"
"Yeah, strange, huh?" Red said, "I was going to take it to Frost and see what she thought of it."
Razor nodded again. "Do you want to leave your bag here with mine or do you want me to take it for you?"
"Leave them here," Red said, "it'll be easier. Besides, I want to see what she has to say."
"Ok, let's go," Razor said as he carried the strange object to Frost's house. He knocked politely on the door.
"Come in."
Opening the door he couldn't help but be amazed at all the beakers and tubes and contraptions set up on various tables. Let alone bottles and bottles of distilled liquids.
"And what do you have for me today?" Frost asked as the timber wolf turned to face them, raising her protective eye wear.
"Red found this while drinking at the lake," Razor said as he moved over and held the gem out.
"I don't deal with gems," Frost said, "maybe Cara can use it in her blacksmithing?"
Razor shook the gem, watching as Frost's eyes went wide.
"There's liquid in that? Impossible!" Cara exclaimed as she took the gem and looked it over, "no, this is no ordinary gem . . . " She uncorked the gem-like bottle.
"So, it's a potion?" Razor asked.
"It would seem so but what kind, I do not know," Frost said.
"Well, let me try it and see what it turns me into," Razor said, "if I don't like it you can always make up a potion to turn me back, right?"
"Of course," Frost said with a nod.
Razor took the bottle and drank. He could feel his body tingling, growing thicker even as his muzzle shrank. He could feel something growing from his head, probably horns or antlers as well as what must be ears since it felt strange in the appropriate place.
When it was over he moved to check himself out in the mirror. "Not as much of a change as I thought. I almost look the same just . . . more stocky with a lot more white."
"Do you want to change back?" Frost asked.
"Nah, I think I'll stay like this for a while. Might be more work getting dirt out of white feathers, but I'm sure I'll manage," Razor said, "if we find any more we'll bring them to you for safe storage.:"
"Please do," Frost said, "I have a back room dedicated to storing all of the potions I have made, plus those all of you have found."
Razor nodded before turning to leave. "Oh, I have a request. If you get the chance, can you find a potion that will not change everything but at least give Red arms?"
"Razor," Red hissed, pink starting to tinge his cheeks.
"I'll check when I get free time," Frost said, "I do agree that having arms would be a benefit, especially exploring."
"Thanks," Razor said, grinning at Red before leaving, knowing the sea serpent would follow.
It might not have been that profitable day for him exploring but, at least something exciting had happened. It looked like the day was going to be a lot brighter after all.
