Originally a powerful healer using the gems on her body to channel her magic, Keira started to develop an interest not only in fixing bodies, but also changing them. After trying to use her magic to try to sew body parts of different types of dead creatures together into a new being, she found herself branded a criminal.
With only her little sister, who was still too young to understand why people shunned Keira, left, they took refuge in an abandoned mansion. Interested not in power but in experimenting for the sake of doing so, Keira started dabbling in dark powers to bring limited life back into the creations she had sewn from corpses. But when the townspeople caught glimpses of the horrible creatures, they set the mansion on fire, with Keira's sister dying in the flames.
Having lost her home, workplace, creations and, most importantly, the only person who had still cared for her, Keira was unsure if she should flee or take revenge so that she could keep living close to her sister's grave. In the end, the decision was taken from her - just after burying her sister, she was caught. To give her a chance to redeem her soul, she got placed into captivity, tasked with using her extensive knowledge to brew morphing potions to actually help others. However, all that Keira is waiting for now is a chance to escape so that she can return to where her sister rests since she now more than ever feels all alone in the world.
Keira constantly covers her face with a magic veil which enhances her powers. In truth, though, her misuse of her powers has taken a toll on her as well - while her gems still shine brightly white, her veil hides a pair of pitch-black eyes and a mouth too wide and with way too many teeth to normally belong to a Gembound.
She also is not truly evil - however, Kaira is absolutely unable to comprehend the concept of morals and ethics. To her, both changing bodies and using dark magic to make them turn semi-living again under her command seems logical, for why would anyone not want 'improvement' to creation? Why would anyone smart not use their imagination and skills to make things better and more efficient? It baffles her that no one seems to understand and while she realizes that she is the one being different from others, she just cannot bring herself to give up what she loves to do, no matter how much she just wishes for company and friendship just like every other being,
