Nadrien was once the crown prince of a proud monarchy of dragon hybrids. His parents were very distant from him, but not unloving in their own ways. Though he was raised to be a firm and somewhat tyrannical leader, he always felt for the needs of those below him in status. Once an adult, he leaned ever more toward diplomacy, and many citizens happily awaited his ascension to the throne. As the time came for the king and queen to step down, however, the two monarchs refused. They had no other heir to take his place, but they refused to give him power. Tension grew throughout the land, as citizens took political sides about the morality of the situation. During the princes birthday ball, just a few short years into the conflict, the king and queen suddenly declared their child an exile, and all those who followed him traitors. They attempted to execute him on the spot, causing a kingdom-wide battle. Or, more accurately, a massacre. The prince, despite being well-loved, had not anticipated such an attack. His followers suffered great loss in numbers, but in the midst of battle, the prince evoked a great and ancient magic. He called upon their patron deity, begging mercy on those that had followed him, they did not deserve to be killed when his death alone would have sufficed. Their deity answered, pitying the prince and his followers attempts at peace. A shroud fell upon the kingdom, and every dragon within became frozen in time, encased in an ethereal crystal.
Eventually, Nadrien was freed from the shroud, alongside his loyal Second in Command, Vash. Several of his followers were freed with him, and they made their way out of their shrouded prison and into the world today. Nadrien has found peace as a simple carpenter, and has begun to court a rat, named Scraps. Their current significant other, Horizon, may be able to help him fully lift the shroud over his people. For now, though, very few of his kind are free, and it is only every few years one is able to wander out of the shroud. He is torn on whether or not to continue the conflict, as he is no longer a prince, and no longer has a kingdom to lay claim to.
