Hey there my busy little beta bees! I've come around again with a couple little news announcements for you so please bear with me.

Costume Changes

First up we have some exciting news about Costumes, they will no longer be restricted to the original 6 species! Costumes can now be applied to any of the common species on site so everyone can enjoy the Career Buffs that come along with applying a costume to your Villager. While most species do not have images available now, they may at some point in the future. So if an image becomes available for the species/costume combo on your Villager you will be allowed to convert to that image if you like. You will just need to contact [email protected] with the request.

Paintie Rule Revamp

Second bit of news is that we have made a few tweaks to the Paintie rules to prepare for the site to open and to reflect the change I was just talking about above. Please be sure to do a thorough read through and get familiar with the changes we've made! I know that it's a lot to look through but we appreciate you all taking the time to work with us on this so we can help you keep creating and collecting all those amazing Painties.

Highlights

-Costumed Villagers can now use any (non-limited) base that is available for the species.
-Costume base pieces may be used on any species as long as the Villager has that costume applied.
-Human traits on Painties are now judged with a numeric threshold.
-Prohibited content has been edited to reflect language standards currently being used for the forums and a Profanity tag has been added for those that wish to block these types of Painties.
-The use of downloaded brushes is allowed but proof must be provided that they can be used for commercial purposes.

**the full wording for these rules can be found on the Paintie Rules page**

Thank you for reading and we hope that you all will be happy with the changes we've made!

    • I was really hoping shifties would at least count ...
Almost all my villagers are shifty, haha.
Oh well no costumes for me still.

    • Yeah, I think I'd like some clarification about the rare species costumes too, @Admin-Deinmaar . The way I've read the reply(s) is that there is no intention on adding costumes for rare species EVER , not just currently. Which is very... I guess unsettling to me because I'd love to put costumes on the rare species I have (eventually - I do understand that it takes time to come out with art) and it's part of the only reason I'm keeping a few of them around?
Especially since I plan on turning one of my villagers into a Gembound here soon and if they can't EVER wear a costume, I wont even bother with getting one.

    • How about an option to apply a costume to a villager that has imagery for that costume, *without* applying the imagery?

I bought a costume for my grey fox villager and it turned her into a red fox. If I wanted a red fox, I would have made her a red fox in the first place. Thank you very much for adding the option to remove costumes so I could turn her back to her original species.

Now that you're talking about letting people add costume buffs to other species without applying the costume imagery and thus changing them to the base color, will that capability be added to the original six?

    • @Admin-Deinmaar I hope this doesn't come off as rude, I really don't mean it to be. I'm just trying to be factual so it's easy to follow, but I fear that may come off as a harsh tone. I truly don't mean it to be.

I really don't think I was reading anything into their statement that wasn't already there. There was a question "Will the costumes eventually be applicable to the rare species, as well?", to which the response was "We have no plans to add them to rares at this time." The question wasn't "can we put costumes on rare species right now" (which is what you just answered), it was inquiring about the future ("eventually"). Which is where my concern came from. The answer could be taken one of two ways, both of which I listed in my post, which was simply asking for clarification on which reply was intended. The first is cause for concern, and I state why, just in case. The second is not, and if that is indeed the case, then there's nothing to be concerned about.

I admit I'm still unsure which is the intended answer: "Current plans are to not give rare species costumes" or "Currently we don't plan to apply this particular solution to rare species". If you look at the person who posted right before I did, it seems I'm not the only one confused by this. I would be most appreciative if you would be able to give some insight into the matter? If not, thank you anyway for taking the time to reply and read through this overly long post. And sorry for any trouble.

The changes made in this announcement are really a great thing and very much welcomed. I'm just trying to get clarification on the site's intentions so I know if I need to submit a suggestion or not. Sorry again

I think you may be reading a little too far into what Mat said. It's simply "at this time" we havn't made any plans for rare costumes. That's not to say that it would NEVER happen. There's always possibilities in the future, Just, as of right now, costumes cannot be applied to Rare Species.

    • @Admin-Mateusz Wait, by "no plans to add them to rares at this time" do you mean "the current plan which may or may not change is to never add rare costumes" or "Rares will get costumes sometime just not anytime in the near future and not as part of this change"? Because if you really plan to always exclude rare species from costumes I think that's a huge mistake. That basically makes what's supposed to be the most desirable species on site, and makes them worse than any old common since they have no access to buffs. They're already worse off because you can't really adjust their poses (If I want a completely differently posed cat, I can put it on a shifty. If I want a completely differently posed gembound, I'm out of luck).

    • wait, never any gembound costumes?? :( that's kinda sad, especially since they're sorta like furvilla's signature species i feel like.

    • I'm so excited that I can finally put a costume on my main AH villager! Thanks bunches admins, devs, and coders! <3 Now if there were an options to use/not use the costume image, and/or use the grayscale costume image instead of the full color when applying a costume, we'd be golden! <3
