February has come, and with it, the introduction of a new round of mini-pets for the FurDollar Emporium. These new monthly mini-pets follow a new system with the goal of retaining their value!

We have heard the concerns of customers who purchased FD mini-pets in the past and their disappointment that breeding has resulted in their purchase losing its value increasingly over time. We want our customers to feel confident that their purchase will retain its value, even potentially increasing in value. Therefore, we have decided that starting with the February mini-pets, FurDollar Emporium mini-pets will be unbreedable species, ensuring that the investment a customer makes will not decline in value due to breeding. Any past mini-pets released through the Emporium will remain as they were, as this change affects only new and future Emporium mini-pets.

Players can now obtain rarer colors for an Emporium mini-pet species by opening a box, found for each new mini-pet species in the Emporium. The boxes for each respective mini-pet have a 40% chance of opening into a common, 30% chance of opening into an uncommon, 20% chance of opening into a rare, or a 10% chance of opening into a super rare. Boxes are also priced at 250 FurDollars, a reduction from past prices.

The Aquaticat species is the first of the new Emporium mini-pets, shown from common through super rare.

The Rapti species is the second of the new Emporium mini-pets, shown from common through super rare.

The Moth species is the third of the new Emporium mini-pets, shown from common through super rare.

The Chipmunk species is the fourth of the new Emporium mini-pets, shown from common through super rare.

The Caterpillar species is the fifth and final of the new Emporium mini-pets, shown from common through super rare.

These new boxes will not entirely disappear at the end of the month. We plan on putting all Emporium mini-pet boxes inside of a larger box called the Retired Box, which will dispense one random box from a past month. The Retired Box will be available at a higher price, but gives players the chance to obtain mini-pet boxes from past months if desired.

Save up your weapons, armor, and unwanted mini-pets, because the Serpent Festival is coming to town on February 14th. The Serpent Festival is Quetzal Palace's yearly special event. During this event, the serpent that carries the Quetzal Palace village on its back will land on the mainland of Furvilla. During this period of time, villagers from all over are welcome to make offerings to the serpent in hopes of being rewarded with something cool.

The upcoming festival will involve some new mini-pet species from the serpent, a special shop to purchase festival related items, new villager colors, new villager costumes, and last but not least... a mystery! Will you be one of the first one hundred people to solve the mystery and earn a trophy from the festival?

But that's not all! We have two weeks before the festival starts, and some other cool activities are coming down the pipeline. Sources say that Crafters will be getting a new type of item to craft, one that should keep all of you crafters busy! What could it be? Hm... we'll find out soon! ;)

    • Yay I'm so excited for the Serpent Festival!

    • I can't spend 5000 FD just to get every pet PER month, and that's if I got lucky with the bags.. At least with the charges you'll slowly get there D:

    • Awful. Awful awful bad just terrible, absolutely awful. Disgusting I am disgusted.

    • I'm seeing some irony already, because it looks like the value of these pets might actually drop faster than non 'unbreedable' ones because so many boxes are being opened and people are rushing to sell the stuff right away and keep lowering prices to do so

    • Blind boxes on a virtual pets site that can easily close down (And looks like it's going that route tbh)? Yeah you pretty much just threw shit on the wall and saw what didn't stick here. The reason why event blind bags work on FR is because they were during an event that was easy to get into and also free to get. No payments, it's just all for the fun of it.

God the disconnect from the user base and the Dev. Team (not the mod team. The Dev team) just absolutely shows here. You guys really care more about cons and making money instead of actually making the game playable. Not to mention that half of the rules made are pretty abusive to the user base.

    • I don't usually pipe up about things I don't care for. All in all it's small beans. This is making me annoyed though. I don't think you've thought it through from a business standpoint, let alone from the average user standpoint. Great, this means these and future FD pets are pretty much unattainable. So great, I'll exclude them from what I throw in my collection as much as it pains my completionist mentality. But whatever, you make something impossible and I'll come to terms. HOWEVER...

Base line: You, as a company, are trying to cater to people who want them all, whether that being breeding or bought for collections. If you didn't and that wasn't the mini-pets target audience- it wouldn't be worth it for you to spend on art for the minimal amount of people who want just one to attach to a pet. But your newly implemented mechanics attack the very nature of your target audience which, is a business no-no.

    • I guess FD pets are totally out of the question for me to collect now... you made them unattainable for, I'd like to say, the majority of people.

    • Fuck off. Just fuck off.

As an AH user who already couldn't afford to spend much money on minipets and was waiting until I got commissions underway just to get a fucking CHANCE this is pathetic. You don't care about us, only money. You blame those complaining about the value going down but no one asked for THIS.

I'm sorry I'm so pissed off but this doesn't even allow for poor people to buy any, so I just really fucking wish you weren't so moneyhungry. It fucking hurts.

Yes, I know FC can turn into FD but even in Quetzal Palace it's still hard for me to get money. I use almost all of the breeding potions I make, and because of using the plants for the pots I can't sell them. Even if I spend hours coming back to explore I only make ~20k which THEN usually gets put into medicines since my Doctor doesn't have much mastery and I have insanely bad luck.

I dunno, I just wish I didn't feel so fucking poor. And I wish people didn't act like snobs who think they are above us just because we have legitimate concerns. [vague posting intensifies]

    • So this is a minor query but by heavens it is bothering me so why is the little box thing for the Chipmunk not the common colour like all the others? O_O

    • Oi, this is awful. As many others have said, it doesn't really make sense to introduce this new unbreedable mechanic without waiting to see how the limited breeding mechanic would play out.

Also, mini pets were meant to be bred, otherwise what's the point? If you want limited monthly items that gain value over time, pick something else.
