February has come, and with it, the introduction of a new round of mini-pets for the FurDollar Emporium. These new monthly mini-pets follow a new system with the goal of retaining their value!

We have heard the concerns of customers who purchased FD mini-pets in the past and their disappointment that breeding has resulted in their purchase losing its value increasingly over time. We want our customers to feel confident that their purchase will retain its value, even potentially increasing in value. Therefore, we have decided that starting with the February mini-pets, FurDollar Emporium mini-pets will be unbreedable species, ensuring that the investment a customer makes will not decline in value due to breeding. Any past mini-pets released through the Emporium will remain as they were, as this change affects only new and future Emporium mini-pets.

Players can now obtain rarer colors for an Emporium mini-pet species by opening a box, found for each new mini-pet species in the Emporium. The boxes for each respective mini-pet have a 40% chance of opening into a common, 30% chance of opening into an uncommon, 20% chance of opening into a rare, or a 10% chance of opening into a super rare. Boxes are also priced at 250 FurDollars, a reduction from past prices.

The Moth species is the third of the new Emporium mini-pets, shown from common through super rare.

The Chipmunk species is the fourth of the new Emporium mini-pets, shown from common through super rare.

The Caterpillar species is the fifth and final of the new Emporium mini-pets, shown from common through super rare.

These new boxes will not entirely disappear at the end of the month. We plan on putting all Emporium mini-pet boxes inside of a larger box called the Retired Box, which will dispense one random box from a past month. The Retired Box will be available at a higher price, but gives players the chance to obtain mini-pet boxes from past months if desired.

Save up your weapons, armor, and unwanted mini-pets, because the Serpent Festival is coming to town on February 14th. The Serpent Festival is Quetzal Palace's yearly special event. During this event, the serpent that carries the Quetzal Palace village on its back will land on the mainland of Furvilla. During this period of time, villagers from all over are welcome to make offerings to the serpent in hopes of being rewarded with something cool.

The upcoming festival will involve some new mini-pet species from the serpent, a special shop to purchase festival related items, new villager colors, new villager costumes, and last but not least... a mystery! Will you be one of the first one hundred people to solve the mystery and earn a trophy from the festival?

But that's not all! We have two weeks before the festival starts, and some other cool activities are coming down the pipeline. Sources say that Crafters will be getting a new type of item to craft, one that should keep all of you crafters busy! What could it be? Hm... we'll find out soon! ;)

    • Lionquinn Yes, but as I said, VERY CLEARLY that I did not read the post, and that I should have so it's my fault for that. I also said VERY CLEARLY that when I BOUGHT them there was NOTHING MENTIONED about being able to breed. I should NOT have to come to a post to find out all the new rules...especially when you buy something for real money. It should have clearly been stated in the transaction that they are not breedable. That's ALL I'm saying.

This game is NOT Flight Rising, and needs to stop being like Flight Rising.

    • Hold up, let me understand something - So, the new animals in FurDollar Emporium are unbreedable right now, but after the new month, they will become breedable, or they won't be breedable at all ?

    • I don’t quite know how to feel about this. On one hand, I understand wanting an item to retain its value or even become a profit in the future, on the other hand I don’t feel like completely changing an items mechanic is the way to do it.

When you remove the breedability of pets that were originally designed to be a part of a breeding portion of the game, you’ve isolated the players who breed as a legitimate form of gameplay. While you may have secured the purchase of people who want to turn a profit, you’ve removed the customers who purchase because they want to play the game the way you originally advertised it to be played. The players who are going to buy them in the future are going to be solely collectors, you’ve just removed the portion of players who would buy them to breed them, cutting down on possible sales. I’m not sure if this is the answer to making sure cash shop items retain their value.

I feel like a better idea would have been to remove the minipets from the FD Emporium and replaced them with outright collectables instead of just sterilizing a portion of pets that were originally intended to be a part of gameplay mechanics.

I do like the random grab bags, though.

    • Can we not try to discourage people from giving the staff feedback whether it be positive or negative? There's nothing wrong with liking this update but some people actually have legitimate reason for not liking this update and aren't just whining because they can't collect all of the mini pets.

It's also strange how the staff didn't even wait to see how the FD pets with limited breeding charges would turn out and just decided to switch to a gambling method after only two months.

    • Rare items available through premium currency gambling only? Very disappointed... I was on the fence if I'd return for the February event but now I know I'm not going to come back.

    • when the fde pets were breedable they lost value (look at how worthless pink lung dragons and tabby flittens are now) and people complained because of this. and now that they're unbreedable people are complaining AGAIN. the staff just can't fucking win with you whiners. am i being harsh? yes! some of you are choosing to LEAVE the site over this feature? unbelievable! "i can never complete my menagerie now!!" son look at the equivalents of the menagerie on every other pet site and tell me why you thought that getting 100% completion was ever actually possible or even the goal here?? look at flight rising, you really tell me that you think you'll ever be able to get a boolean or a skycat? and look at the prices for light sprites! and yet the fr userbase, while not thrilled about that, seem to be able to get along just fine without acting like the staff are the devil incarnate and whining and complaining every single time things don't go exactly their way! deal. with. it. it's a fucking petsite. stop complaining.

    • LisaRae it VERY CLEARLY states in this news post that they are unbreedable: "FurDollar Emporium mini-pets will be unbreedable species, ensuring that the investment a customer makes will not decline in value due to breeding." it does not get more clear than that. stop complaining because you didn't read the whole thing before making a rash decision. that was your own fault.

    • I guess i should've read this a little bit more....I bought two aquaticats cause well, they are pretty awesome. Went to go check on the breeding time and found out THEY CAN'T BREED!!! There was NOTHING MENTIONED about them not being able to breed when I bought them. I don't think people are going to want NON Breedable pets. I know those are going to be the last two FD pets I ever buy.

    • why didn't y'all just add a permanent pet sink, no one wanted this and it's horrible

    • theres literally no point in spending 500fd on them now? there was even less reason when they had only five breeding charges, but now theyre basically useless. this will decrease value more than itll increase anything, because nobody wants a pet that you cant do shit with. you absolutely did not think this through and it shows. this is so bad lol.
