Vash Romero Drake, born to a family without so much as ten pence. Even as a child she understood the extreme state of need her family lived in, thus she took it upon herself to become the support her younger siblings needed. She worked herself to the bone night and day until one fateful night she returned to a barren plot of land, with only cinders where her home used to be. The authorities informed her that the building next door must have had a gas leak. She had howled and raged that night, tearing up the unblemished grass only a few meters from the sight of the explosion. She left that morning clutching her older brother's pocket watch to her chest, her only memento. A golden watch on a chain with a half scorched photo inside.

She ran from the sight of destruction and devoted her life to the joy she found in flight and mechanics. She accepted an apprenticeship with the medical professor Howard C. Higgins and became close friends with the old man.

The aviatrix eventually purchased a zeppelin from a WWI battle site and restored it to it's full glory. Electing to even keep the name on the side in German, "Gegen Sturm" or oncoming storm. She founded a robotics company under the name Romero Robotics and began to cater to the steam punk lovers around the world.
