[PAINTIE COMING SOON]
You've heard rumors of a deer who once was a dutch angel dragon- blue roan to be specific. A wendigo who runs a shop in the depths of the frosty woods outside of Azrael's village. A being who has been around longer than Azrael herself. You weren't sure whether the horse who had anxiously told you not to enter the forest was credible or not, but either way, you had somehow found a house in the midst of your chilly explorations, and though you weren't one to believe the rumors, something did seem off about it.
Shivering, you knock on the door, and hear a dinging sound. Startled, you look up to see a bell swaying in the slight wind that had suddenly sprung up. A creaking sound alerts you to the opening of the door, the slight tinkle of magic making your head tilt curiously. A warm gust of air blows out towards you and you feel the little bits of snow on your feet melt off.
"Come in, come in, the shop is always open- no need to knock, love! Brr, it's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey out there!" You're snapped out of your thoughts by the cheery, accented voice of someone inside. Stepping in, you close the door behind you and wipe your feet on the welcome mat on the floor. Looking around, you can see that the walls are covered with shelves. Those shelves are covered with seeds, rocks, plants- piles of materials obviously gathered in battle with monsters and other villagers. At the back of the shop is a black furred deer, faced towards the wall, carefully arranging some items. Little ominous candles line their horns.
As it turns towards you at the sound of your footsteps, you're startled to see that it is indeed a wendigo, the skull over its face a lovely white color. The eye sockets are hollow, an empty void staring back at you. You sense that this being is judging you profusely. Whether the judgement had turned out positive or negative would be clear soon. Then the wendigo nods, waving. "'Ello, welcome to my shop, I don't get visitors often, so this is a wonderful surprise- do, sit down and have a cup of tea, hmm?" The wendigo's magic pulls a chair towards you from somewhere, and a cup of tea pops into existence.
Many hours pass, and you've gotten used to the wendigo's chatter. You learned their name is Midnight. Though they didn't talk much about the village, they do mention that they don't appreciate the cold attitude the inhabitants of the ruined city have towards them, only going as far as to say that they get along rather well with Azrael, before hopping onto the counter with a sword, re-enacting a battle they had with a monster. They're quite energetic, and seem to never tire of any topic.
The conversation comes to a close, when they fall silent, before reaching into their fur and pulling out a pocket watch. "Oh dear, it's far too late, eh? You won't be able to get back to the village before dawn if I don't do somethin' about it. And for a new friend, I'll make an exception!" Opening the lid of the watch, they flick the hour hand with one hoof, watching the needles spin. The light starts to change, and you look outside to see that the entire sky is as bright as it was hours ago. They grin, snapping the watch closed and tucking it away. "Anyways, if ya want to take a look around, snag some stuff on your way out? Free of charge, since I kept you so long!"
Well... that certainly was unexpected. You gathered your items, picked a few new ones off the shelves that Midnight had indicated, and left with a goodbye and a little wave from the wendigo. When you got back to the village, you make a beeline towards Azrael's massive house, knocking urgently, eager to learn more about the wendigo you met. She opens it almost immediately, as if she were expecting you. She stares down at you, tilting her head as she listens to your description of your experience at Midnight's. "You met Midnight Tempus. They come from a long line of time mages, hence the last name. It means Time, quite literally. I'm glad they didn't hurt you, they tend to do that to outsiders more often than not. Either way, their gift may in some way be important, so I'd value it." You leave, pondering this.
