Lagodae are a diverse species with multiple variations. Though the different variations share many fixed traits that define them as members of the same species, each faction has adapted different skills and small physical differences that allow them to thrive in different environments.

The White Paw Lagodae faction thrive in very cold climates and excel in hunting and tracking. They have higher endurance than other factions and have evolved to have thicker fur and walrus-like tusks. Generally, White Paw Lagodae have lighter coat colors with reduced or no markings, but some have retained the bright colors and patterns of their ancestors.

The Princess' Fang Lagodae span over a vast region, but are not particularly territorial and will gladly let others live peacefully among them. They thrive in warm, but not tropical, climates. The Princess' Fang faction is considered to be the most similar to the original Lagodae ancestors, but still have variations that set them apart. They generally have very bright coloring and well-defined markings resembling hyena markings. They excel in agriculture and artisan crafting, but are not as physically strong as other variations. They generally have shorter fangs, tusks and horns because of their non-confrontational nature.

The Phantom Tail Lagodae are a faction made up of many nomadic groups. They generally have more natural, muted color schemes and sleek fur. They get their name from a gene that causes them to have either no tail or a bobbed tail. They are masters of foraging and survival and are quick to pick up new skills. They generally have thinner but sharper teeth and sturdy claws, as they need to protect themselves while traveling. The Phantom Tail Lagodae help facilitate trade between other factions and happily share the knowledge they gather in their travels with others. Lagodae who join their faction will often get their tail docked to show devotion.

There are many smaller sub-factions as well as groups that have cut themselves off from other factions, but they are all derived from the main three in some way.

All Lagodae possess the latent ability to transform into their primal form which resembles the Mother Lagodae, but many find it hard to access this ability and it has become a rarity. The primal form is large and almost resembles a lung dragon in stature, but retains the fur, teeth and horn patterns of the individual. It is said that Lagodae who master this form are able to cross over into an astral realm and meet with the ancestors, but no one has ever proven this.

Lagodae are not very adept in magic, but some have been able to imbue lesser charms and curses into small objects and there have been some who can make low-grade potions and brews.

Lagodae generally get along well with other species, but can sometimes come off as too intense and energetic.

Lagodae are a closed species created by me (cantabileChaos). I am open to the idea of doing adoptables or commissions, but I do not currently have an established system in place for doing such things. If you are interested in having a Lagodae OC, please contact me and we can discuss plans to do so.
