A massive, winding pit- scaling deep, deep, deep, and yet deeper and deeper into the very core of the planet. An excavation team headed by a man of the name Jürgen has spent the better half of their lives carving this straight shot to hell out of the earth. The further down they got, the more they began to unleash things no one on the team understood. They weren't animals, they weren't people, trying to even comprehend them boggled the mind. The only thing that can hold them back, the only thing that can damage them is the blessing from the very being that made them- the massive thing at the core of the planet they were getting nearer and nearer towards; the allfather of all things unholy. A priest was recruited to fight off these beasts, using holy water and blessings to harm them. It wasn't long before seeing these things induced a psychosis in the team, which led to Jürgen becoming power hungry and vindictive. The priest that had been so dutiful protecting them before, was pushed over the edge during a trip farther down. It was too quick for anyone to stop it.
Here, the allfather at the core of the planet produces supernatural entities known as revenant kings. Their purpose is to oversee the fate of fallen supernatural beings, making sure to recycle the soul back into the allfather. To become such a thing, a soul must go through 1000 individual lives and deaths; to make it more complex, only supernatural beings are reincarnated, so one must be a supernatural being each time. Created in a bright flash of light, Limbo was the next revenant king to be, having died in his past life during an important historical event.
His father, the current revenant king, Tartarus, taught him well while he was growing up. He was a great father, but was a bit too spoiling and lenient with Limbo as Limbo was born with a terminal illness that rarely occurs in revenant kings- Tartarus was never sure how long he'd have with Limbo. These things swirled in Limbo's forming brain too much, and he ended up having an ego at a very young age- especially since he IS death, the ultimate be-all-end-all. This love of himself paired with his terminal illness birthed the rather ironic fear of his own death, as revenant kings aren't immortal. However, one day Tartarus told him something that caught his attention...Apparently, the tendrils of the allfather can be destroyed. When they are destroyed, the billions of souls inside the tendril rush into the next living thing...granting immortality.
Problem is, Tartarus has a heart and would not allow billions of souls to be killed. So, to Limbo, that meant he was in the way. Limbo does not like being told no, and especially hates anything standing in the way. At only the age of fourteen, Limbo plotted and succeeded with murdering his own father. Getting rid of the evidence was easy too, as he did just eat the remains. With his father out of the way, Limbo got hold of one of the allfather's tendrils, and promptly snapped it in his hands. With that, his terminal illness was cured.
Personality wise, Limbo represents both sides to existence, that being life and death. He is inviting, bubbly, and super charismatic on the surface; but, he is as callous, cold, and indiscriminate as death itself at his core. He's extremely narcissistic and he really hates when it's NOT about him. He loves attention so much that he's incredibly ostentatious, he will do anything to get all eyes on him no matter how outrageous. Limbo has fitting hobbies for someone so death-obsessed, he loves making urns, coffins, obols; and also adores studying biology and mortuary science. Currently, Limbo is married to a regular dude, that being
Valais. They are actually soulmates, their souls always end up together no matter what life it is. In a hilariously ironic turn of events as well, Limbo is actually a father! He and Valais adopted
Leto when he was very young. Limbo loves being a father and babies Leto.
