Villager: Muse

Upon first impressions, Muse appears to be a short, albeit friendly jester dressed in urban attire. They stand at a height of 5'5" without their hat and sneakers, and their face is concealed by a white painted mask with blue markings. He seems to be energetic, and is often found handing out flyers for the circus that employs him, or performing street acts consisting of acrobatics or even contortion. They stand out from the rest of the troupe due to their more unusual attire, but within the circus itself, they're an odd-jobs staff member who takes care of things like assembling tents and booths, helping other troupe members with preparations, mediating disputes, and generally surveilling the grounds and reporting back to their employer. They don't have a tent or shows of their own to perform for audiences, and they prefer it that way. Though one wouldn't know it by looking at them during their street performances, being in the spotlight or having attention too closely on them makes them uncomfortable.

Muse is an introvert at heart and prefers the quiet company of the darkness and shadows, because they're a shadow themself under all of their clothing and paint. Seldom used unless in dire situations, Muse can summon a number of shadow limbs from their body, and they can manipulate shadows belonging to others around them or even melt into shadows to travel places without being seen or detected. For hobbies, Muse doesn't have much free time due to their circus duties, but they keep a small habitat containing some caterpillars and moths which they're extremely fond of. Their favorite is the White Satin Moth, but the ones they keep are usually silkwork moths and caterpillars instead.

Though Muse is an omnivore like most humans and humanoids, he prefers meat to plants or vegetables. The troupe he's a part of requires one specific type of food to sustain themselves, but beyond that, they're free to eat whatever they like. For Muse, that translates into a fondness for beef jerky over anything else when his primary food isn't available, and he keeps a stock of it in his own mini fridge in the trailer that the troupe travels in.




As mentioned before, Muse appears to be outgoing and friendly, and can sometimes give off a naive or innocent vibe when he approaches people to invite them to come visit the circus he calls home. He likes to act shy, sometimes clumsy, and often times he'll let people pat his head or give him a hug, even though physical contact from anyone other than his partners makes him scream internally and want to combust on the spot. In truth, Muse is not a friendly and approachable person, and as said before, he likes to be alone if not with the private company of his loved ones. By himself, Muse seldom talks, preferring non-verbal forms of communication, and he tends to keep to himself like the living shadow he is.

That said, though, Muse CAN be a bit of a gremlin at times when the mood strikes him, and when he gets excited about something, it can monopolize his thoughts for days, weeks, months, or even longer. He's also not to be mistaken for a doormat. His troupe isn't always well received by those around them, and at times, the humans can lash out or bring harm to Muse and the others. In cases like this, Muse can only bow his head, remain silent, and take the punishment he's dealt, but he doesn't forget the faces of those who harm him. He's not allowed to harm humans in the public eye, but he and the other troupe members have their way of getting back at those who hurt them. Muse doesn't particularly LIKE hurting people, but if they're going to treat him as something subhuman, he'll do the same.




When interacting with others, Muse is the type to mirror the energy of his company, and so his behavior and interactions with his partners are often much different than his behavior when he's alone. With ████ specifically, the duo has a flirty, smug, and often teasing dynamic with both parties picking on each other playfully and fighting for control over the other. As well, ████ loves to poke fun at Muse's height, often picking the smaller clown up which annoys Muse greatly. It's all in good fun though, and as much as Muse often appears annoyed at ████'s antics, he loves the clown dearly and wouldn't hesitate to throw hands in a second if it came to it. With ████, Muse is much softer and more tender, often acting lovey-dovey and sugar sweet with him. Their interactions are much more gentle and affectionate with each other, signifying a very close and intimate bond.

Though his relationship with ████ and ████ would be considered intimate, Muse is fairly close with the rest of the troupe too. He considers ██ to be something along the lines of a QPP, and he's very good friends with ██████. He has a complicated relationship with ██████, because while the latter is Muse's boss, their interactions and relationship don't really reflect that properly. Muse can confidently say he has a crush on ██████, and it seems like the latter may feel the same way for him as well. However, due to the obsessiveness and overprotectiveness of Muse's two partners, ██████ usually ends up keeping his distance and limiting his interactions with Muse to something casual.

When it comes to ███, Muse has an entirely different dynamic because of the different world building and universe that ███ lives in. That won't be detailed in this profile, because it would simply just be too long and too weird to explain.
