On the large, stony hill in the middle of the island, one you've been told is uncreatively but aptly titled Stony Hill by the villagers here, you see a kitsune, colored like the night skies with an aurora glowing around her, meditating at the peak, a winter morning mystic noodle surrounding her with its coils. The noodle in question opens it's eyes and looks at you, before apparently deeming you unimportant and laying its head back down on the stone, closing its eyes. Above all, there is something ethereal about the fox, like she isn't entirely there.
"Greetings. Was there something you needed from me?"
"Ah, you are getting to know everyone. My name is Arya, and I am a spirit of winter, and my companion here is Diamond Dust. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
"Surprised to see a spirit of winter all the way out here? Well, we can be found all over Furvilla. Why would it be any different here? This may be a small pocket of nature in a vast sea, but it is still nature, and still affected by the seasons. You may see spirits of spring, summer, and fall passing through as well, should you be lucky to run into them. In fact, two spirits of spring and summer already live here; Primrose and Xander respectively."
"What am I doing out here out of season? Well, simple: I live here. What, you didn't think us winter spirits lived solely in Tiger's Eye Peak, now did you No, I rather like it here. Most spirits tend to be rather isolationist, I must admit, but some are rather social. I myself rather enjoy the company here. Wykin wasn't kidding when she said this was a wonderful island."
"Huh? Oh yes, I know the creator of Sallentine. She's the one who pointed out this place to me. And I must say, she's delightful company when she's in the right mood for it."
"Hobbies? Well, as you can see, I enjoy meditating.
And of course, winter activities are fun as well. Snowball fights, ice skating, Christmas...what season could possibly be better?"
"Oh yes, it snows here. Even if I have to freeze the clouds myself."
"Bonsais are another weakness of mine; there is just something so serene and peaceful about the task. Ouroboros agrees with me, and we often perform the task together."
Arya gives you a little smirk.
"Did you know, that trimming bonsai trees together is supposed to promote inner peace, especially when done as a couple?"
Arya laughs. It sounds like the tinkling of bells, and a whisper of wind.
"Of course, he was completely oblivious! It was hilarious. But, well, things happened, and eventually...we fell in love, and got married."
Arya has a goofy smile on her face.
"We have a son, Tiberius, and he is the cutest little boy to ever exist. Wykin's his godmother; without her pointing me in the direction of the island, I'd've never met Ouroboros. I'm indebted to her beyond words for this."
"What kind of spirit is he? Tiberius is a mix between the two of us; a spirit of the New Year, if you will. Rebirth and renewal of the land, and the joy of new beginnings as the year begins in that wintery night. I’m excited to see just what Tiberius will be able to do as he grows older; his magic is very limited as he is still quite young.”
"What? Belphegor? Oh yes, him. Does he litter outside? Actively aggravate or curse people? Level the town? No. Thus, there is no reason to dislike him."
Arya leans in and speaks in a conspiratorial whisper.
"Don't tell him I said this, but he does like this place, even if he'll never admit it, even on pain of death."
The kitsune giggles, before leaning back to return to her original position.
"Now, if you'll excuse me...I'd like to take this moment of peace for a little longer. You should take in all the sights Ouroboros has to offer; it may be classified as a small island, but in practice it's rather large, don't you think?"
"Farewell, traveller. May we meet again."
Arya turns her head back to looking out over the island, before closing her eyes. You take that as your cue to leave.
