Incoming Sales Tax

Furvilla is in the process of implementing a FurCash sales tax for the user shops. When a player sells an item to another player for FurCash, a sales tax of 5% will be removed from the purchase price, and the remainder will be deposited into the shop till as normal. The goal of this addition is to help sink small amounts of FurCash and ensure the strength of the currency. When calculating the tax, it will be 5% of the total, rounded down, with a minimum of 1 FurCash.

This change will be implemented in forty-eight hours or at 2:00 AM Furvilla Time on August 17th, so please be sure to alter your item prices if desired before that deadline.

In addition, the Moth Morphing Potion has been released into Olde Foxbury, and three new species colors are released -- Culpeo Fox, Long Eared Owl, and Osprey Raptor. We have also completed construction of the Trades page, which allows players to trade villagers, items, and currency freely. The link to the Trades page is located on the Town Hall.

    • I mean if I wanted a furry gaia online I'd just use the paws base there. A site this small doesn't need that high or a sales tax unless you plan to sell FurCash directly for RL money.

    • How about no? This is an absolute terrible idea! I have enough trouble gaining furcash as it is! I'm calling it now, you're going to lose players over this. Why don't you ever consult your players before moving into rash decisions like this? I know my voice will either not be heard or will be ignored by staff though, so what's the point?

    • What if instead of that 5%tax being essentially thrown into the virtual abyss, it is added to the lottery?

    • that is a harsh tax but i guess it requires a lot less effort on the part of the site than coming up with a gold sink >x>;;;

    • i think the tax will help a little- FC already seem to be inflated quite a bit

    • Mmmm not gonna lie, I don't really like the sales tax thing. I don't really get why it's a thing. It's already hard enough to make money here, honestly.

    • I never really understood the point of taxes in games with fictional currency, tbh? It just like....goes no where. Irl taxes help out everyone in the long run. In games I don't even think they go to admins? They just kinda poof.

      It'd be kinda cool if each town got some sort of reward depending how how much tax was paid by them or something, Kinda like dominance in Flights Rising maybe?

      I don't really see how it will 'ensure the strength of the currency' at the moment, other than preventing people selling things for like 1 Furcash (which tbh I've only really seen happening in the Construction/Maintenance field really.
      But I'll save my full judgement for when it's implemented and see how that goes.

    • excuse me

    • There are upsides and down sides to the tax. I play on Flight Rising and we have a tax system and it's not as bad as you are all thinking. It will be a small sink in FC to help stabilize the currency in game so we don't have an explosive inflation as another quite well known online game did (*cough* Gaia *cough*). It might also help to stabilize/increase shop prices. I know I for one am not going to be using the trade feature because I just don't have the time to devote to bumping my thread for sales.

      Downside yeah you'll loose five percent of your items price when it's purchased. If you don't like that just use the straight trade.

      Over all I am one who is glad to see something like this implemented.

    • Taxes at 5% just seems like an awful idea and I feel it will backfire. I have a hard enough time earning cash. Now it's going to be harder?? I hope this is thought through again because personally I think it's a terrible idea.
