In an effort to breathe new life in to the Alchemist Career, we’ve decided on making some small tweaks to the Species Morphing Potions and the Villager creation process in the near future. While we do not have an exact date for the roll out of this change yet, we are making this announcement so that you can be prepared for what is coming.

The upcoming changes will be as follows:

-Creating a new Villager will be limited to the first three colors released per species.

--The remaining colors and any future additions will be available via the Species Morphing Potions.
--The randomized nature of the Species Morphing Potions will be removed, allowing you to choose the color you'd like to apply to your Villager. As such, the feature allowing you to refine the Morphing Potion at the Alchemist will be removed as it is no longer necessary.

In the future we are also looking forward to the release of Limited Edition Colors for Villagers that will be obtainable via other means, such as upcoming events. These Limited Colors will not be available through the regular Species Morphing Potions. There will be more details to come on this portion of the update as they are made available.

Our hope is that these changes will add a valuable new facet to the Species Morphing Potions and the Alchemist Career!

    • Well... Time to get an alchemist

    • I agree with having a way to view all the colors (instead of having to keep an open villager slot to do so), and I think this is a good change, most especially for cash potions. I speak from experince when I say that few things are more off-putting to a donor than spending $20 and having the pet changed to something the donor detests (instead of getting to pick what they want - which wasn't an option at the time, so it made sence to assume that you got to pick the outscome for $20). As for Alchemy, it's impossible (with such a small player base) to test what will happen in an open economy, but it would be nice if the Morphing Potions had some kind of actual use.

    • I think this would be an interesting change especially the Limited edition villagers, however, can I make a plea about events?

I play a lot of games, most of the time they are do about 10 minutes of stuff then wait. Many of them had halloween events and fortunately they all seemed to understand that A. nearly ALL users want to participate in events, especially if there are unique rewards. and B. Not everyone has all day to spend online grinding in one particular game for something.

Saying that the event is optional and users don't have to participate is somewhat of a slap in the face, because of course it is optional, since this is a game, everything is optional. That isn't the issue. The issue is time. There simply aren't enough hours in a day to do some of these events (in other games) without spending real money to finish or needing such high level character(s) that there is no way for anyone just coming into the game to even have a chance at getting the highest rewards.

I had a game like that. I loved the game, but every week they would have new 'optional' quests with special unique rewards that only someone who was extremely high level could complete. I always felt like I was 'catching up' and seeing these wonderful pretty rewards go through and never having a chance to get them. I quit the game.

So, my plea is this: For the LE events, please give us enough to time to have a chance to get the high reward (doesn't have to be a guarantee and doesn't mean that everyone gets it, just that you don't have to spend 12 hours each day of the event at least on FV grinding certain professions) and make it so that even new players/those who haven't focused on certain careers have a chance to make it (I mean don't make it so that in order to have to get the highest reward a user must craft 10 100% hypothermia cures for example)

This way FV can still be fun for those who have events going on in other games and still have a chance to participate in said event even if they don't always have a chance to get to the computer every hour on the hour.

    • I don't mind this change, but I do wonder:
Will there be a way to see all the forms of the species on-site?
Because, honestly, I use the create a villager thing to view the different color types more than actually designing a villager...

So an easy way to see the possible choices from the potions without having to have/use the potions would be nice. (an actual on-site way that'd be easy to use...)

    • I think someone mentioned it before but doesn't Foxbury not gain any benefits from this? Because all the morph potions for that village are 3-4 anyways except one which only has one color to begin with?

I think Foxbury needs some more upgrades before we pull stuff like this to be honest...

    • :o exciting

    • Yay, thank you! My poor alchemist is so bored, and this is really going to give him more of a job to do!

    • I like this idea!
