New Species and More

Greetings, villagers! Furvilla has been joined by a new species: the Shifty! This is a new rare species that can be crafted out of Tigereye Peak, and brings with it a large change to the Paintie System. Because canonically the Shifty can mimic the appearance of anything it sees, Painties for the Shifty have a large range of artist freedom and do not require the use of a Furvilla base.

The full rules for the Shifty can be read by visiting the Paintie Rules page.

We have released Morphing Potions for the entirety of species available on Furvilla. The recipes for these potions are stocking in their respective village shops, as all potions have been split up among the villages In addition, an option has been added to the Potions Shop of your village that permits you to pay the shopkeeper to obtain a specific result out of a species potion. For those of you who have been asking for a way around the randomness of a potion, especially as we release new colors for our species, this should definitely help!

In addition, some Paintie Rules have been clarified or amended by the Paintie Admins:

- Rule 1 Amendment: When creating a Paintie for a costume, the Paintie must match the base of the costume.
- Rule 2 Amendment: Species changes allowed on a Furvilla base involve subgroups of animals that are similar to each other, such as deer and goats.
- Rule 2 Amendment (2): Masks are permitted as a head edit.
- Rule 3 Amendment: Players are allowed to use base artwork of Costumes that match the Costume they are designing a Paintie for. For instance, when designing an Aquatic Wolf, players are permitted to use body parts from other Aquatic Costumes, provided they are not a costume for a rare species (which does not exist yet).
- Rule 6 Amendment: Rule Six was changed to "Painties May Not Include Prohibited Content" and also clarify that our rules regarding alcohol and drug use apply to Painties as well.
- Rule 6 Amendment (2): Indicates that the Paintie Team reserves the right to reject a Paintie for sexual content even if the specific item is not listed, if the Paintie comes off as sexual.
- Rule 8 Amendment: Players may shrink the base slightly to accommodate edits to the head area of the base, provided that the base is not made smaller than 3/4ths its original size.

Last among the major changes is that we have uncapped the ability to create villagers, though the Villagers page has a steep cost to adding additional villagers. We know that you have wanted to add additional characters to your accounts and hope that this change gives you the freedom to do so, while also providing a good sink for FurCash. We are currently working on capping all careers to a reasonable level so that the unlimited villagers option does not have a detrimental effect on the economy.

Have a great day!

    • Well I hope the special species they give to Foxbury, my village, doesn't suck.
Now all the other villages have a valuable trade element and here in Foxbury, we've got nothing of significant value. :T

    • SeaSnek I mean that creation is exactly like the other special potions. If I can learn how to make Wickerbeast potions, it stands to reason that someone else can learn to make the Shifty potion. There are already a bunch of seed trades going on between users so you can still get seeds from other villages. I don't see that suddenly ending with the new potion coming out. So it is very plausible to live in another village and still be able to make a shifty potion.

    • Also, this potion is SUPER unbalanced. Almost no one doing painties is going to be wanting other potions - because why not just use whatever base you want? After all, a shifty can imitate ANYTHING, unless there's some rule you -can't- use a furvilla base with it.

It would be ridiculous if you couldn't make an edited wicker or DAD with it, for example. Also, limiting this to one village is super unfair and going to wreck the economy harder than ever. It means that one village has arguably the BEST potion.

imo it should be available to anyone and use plants from ALL villages.

    • And, I agree that making the Shifty unique to one village is MASSIVELY unfair to everyone else. It's not a Manokit or DAD. It's a wildcard (and how that fits into Tiger's Eye, I'll never know). Shifty should, in my opinion, be a universal morphing potion sold in every village's potion shop for a set price. That's fair. As for species for Tiger's Eye, how about a Seal or other Pinneped? That fits well into their theme, and there are no Pinneped Villagers at present (which Quaggy would LOVE to see fixed). :)

    • Renkindle

What would a human be hurting? Most people aren't going to do it, but drawing that line opens up others - like why are there scalies and featheries on a FUR site? What if I don't think ALIENS belong here? That's just a silly and arbitrary rule for something that likely won't happen much at all.

    • Malis

The Shifty potion is not "just like" the other potions. I can't send in a self-drawn paintie of a tapeworm and get it approved for a Manokit.

    • I agree with Lelouch .

Animal Husbandry does NOT have a 50% success rate. No way. No how. Not a chance. Somehow the randomizer is nerfed. There's just no way it's even CLOSE to 50%. I fail at LEAST 75% of the time. I fail 4-6 times for EVERY single success, on average. So limiting someone to ten attempts means that they MIGHT, if they are lucky, get two pets, and since worthless shop pets (that one simply has to release) are the most common results, users could go DAYS without catching anything useable/domesticatable. No, no, no, you simply CAN'T limit Animal Husbandry like this. It's already the most nerfed class out there (hence the INSANE prices on the pets). I don't know what the success rate is, there's no way on this green Earth that it's 50%, or even CLOSE to 50% (unless I and every other Animal Husbandry person I've chatted with just happen to all have the worst luck ever... but my bet would be on a code error, personally).

    • Off topic--just a thing that's been bugging me a bit lately: can you guys change the "tuxedo" coloration for rabbits to "Dutch"? There's no such thing as a tuxedo rabbit. :P (There really need to be more bun colors in general, but that's just me being a bunny nerd.)

    • I'm worried that humans and stuff are gonna be allowed as Shifty painties, it feels like it's defeating the purpose/theme of the site imo... if allowing human villagers isnt the intention, then maybe put that it has to be a creature of some sort in the Shifty rules? They feel a little lax

    • Riboo I feel ya, and same here I would just end up moving to tigereye if I absolutely have to. I really hope that doesn't end up being set in stone though, mostly because the economy for every other village is going to suffer so much :c

AND YEA exactly for the fumis!! Regardless of what happens, I'm really happy about the shifties in general, because now I could totally make a fumi base for fumi owners to use >w<
