Seeking Programming Talent

Programmers.png

We come to you today with the unfortunate news that our developer has been missing since the server move in June. We know that some of you have been waiting for a fix to the daily streak, and many prospective players have e-mailed us expressing concern over being unable to join the game, but we have not been able to fix these problems without the aid of a developer. It appears at this time we must accept the inevitability of finding another programmer.

Until we are able to find a new programmer, the Oceandome event is on indefinite hiatus. Our focus right now is going to be finding a developer who can fix the registration bug and fix the IP queue (which was unfortunately damaged during the server move as well). At that point, we can address the daily streak and start thinking about the Oceandome event again, as all of the documents for the event are planned out and much of the content is ready, we simply need the programming to go forward with our plans.

This lack of programming staff has thrown a big wrench into all of our planned changes, so please bear with us while we try to find someone who can appropriately tend to our codebase. As you may guess, Furvilla is a very large and complex site. As such, we have to be vigilant with who we hire to ensure their skill level matches the demands of the codebase.

That said, if you are a programmer familiar with PHP and the Laravel framework and are interested in becoming a Furvilla developer, please contact us with your portfolio at [email protected].

We hope to find a new developer soon so we can get back on track. We'll let everyone know when we've found a good match!

NOTE: The Oceandome Event is NOT BEING CANCELLED, the Event is simply being POSTPONED.

    • I would totally offer my fiance's help, but he's way too busy with his business ):

    • Taking 1 week to respond to a person one's working with/for is very unprofessional. :/
But waiting 1 week before moving on with the offer to someone else is imo the best FV could've done even if the 1st dev wasn't known for responding after a week. It just gives time to respond even when one has life issues piled up.

I don't know php and I still got a few hours of coding left for my uni, so I can only wish you find a good coder. Or at least someone that can look into the code and check what went wrong...

    • While I am a little disappointed my village event is being postponed, I am grateful for the information, and that the event will happen at some point.

Good luck with finding a new coder :)

    • Thank you for being transparent! You took the right route - waiting three weeks for each developer to respond (and in the case of the first one - that's a full three weeks!). It's a bad streak of luck, it is! Take your time... I'm afraid I can't help - I only have one college class worth of experience in Java programming, and I doubt you guys need a machine that can count prime numbers. Good luck!

    • Hope you can find a good developer :>

    • I really, really appreciate the transparency; most sites wouldn't tell us this was going on, and honestly like, given how our userbase is, it was very gutsy and brave to bare your throats like this to the wolves, but still wanting to let us know what's going on behind the scenes. Honestly, it's commendable with how aggressive most folks on here are, and yall are willing to still update us on everything and let us know the issue when you've exhausted all other options.

      That being said, I hope a reliable coder is found soon, and all the site's problems fixed ;u;

    • Just wondering, has this job opening been posted to Facebook groups ? If not that might help the search a lot! C:

    • Careless to lose a developer. Have you looked under the couch cushions? <-- Ferret Logic.

    • It sucks that your programmers jumped ship right before a big event :< thanks for letting us know an not being all quiet and secretive and just saying "oh the OD event isn't gonna happen lel" and actually explaining the situation. we need more of that online!

    • Maybe hire someone you know in real life. ;)
