Seeking Programming Talent

Programmers.png

We come to you today with the unfortunate news that our developer has been missing since the server move in June. We know that some of you have been waiting for a fix to the daily streak, and many prospective players have e-mailed us expressing concern over being unable to join the game, but we have not been able to fix these problems without the aid of a developer. It appears at this time we must accept the inevitability of finding another programmer.

Until we are able to find a new programmer, the Oceandome event is on indefinite hiatus. Our focus right now is going to be finding a developer who can fix the registration bug and fix the IP queue (which was unfortunately damaged during the server move as well). At that point, we can address the daily streak and start thinking about the Oceandome event again, as all of the documents for the event are planned out and much of the content is ready, we simply need the programming to go forward with our plans.

This lack of programming staff has thrown a big wrench into all of our planned changes, so please bear with us while we try to find someone who can appropriately tend to our codebase. As you may guess, Furvilla is a very large and complex site. As such, we have to be vigilant with who we hire to ensure their skill level matches the demands of the codebase.

That said, if you are a programmer familiar with PHP and the Laravel framework and are interested in becoming a Furvilla developer, please contact us with your portfolio at [email protected].

We hope to find a new developer soon so we can get back on track. We'll let everyone know when we've found a good match!

NOTE: The Oceandome Event is NOT BEING CANCELLED, the Event is simply being POSTPONED.

    • ScissorMouth I have noticed that the daily streak gets out of sync periodically, like one of the entries misses an update one day, so like right now I'm 29/30 for inventory slots but 90/90 for paintie tickets. For a long way I was continually off by one day for the 7 and 14 day streaks. That may be what Admin is referring to.

    • Yeah I was gonna pop in to say that people shouldn't knock the programmers too much. We don't know the situation. I'm sure if they are freelance programmers they might be working on jobs that will pay them more, and them making enough money to cover living expenses is important. As far as we are aware, there has been no breech in contact. People get busy. As the admin said, they did even hear back from one, who was busy. As much as this sucks for the users theres no need to jump to conclusions.

    • I hope you will be able to find that new developer soon! Also, could someone possibly explain what's wrong with the daily streak? I'm not sure what's wrong..

MariahKat That seems a bit selfish..

    • It's ok, Furvilla. I still love you. <3

    • Not all of us are upset with you admins. You're doing an awesome job and I hope you find a good developer. Like others in the comments section, I too am a PHP developer, but I've never really worked with Laravel. :)

    • I know the coders that built FV are working on another site now, but I am assuming you weren't still using them and had other coders that have been maintaining the place since then. Sites like this really need at least one dedicated coder that is paid full time to maintain everything.

    • Oh gosh, I didn't know there was this problem before!

I hope you guys can find a programmer to help out the site, I personally don't mind missing a few fun events and stuff until we're able to find someone who can do this right.

    • Tfw you have an amazing staff that's passionate about this site but the developers are absolute asshat so now the whole site hates on staff despite it not being their fault lol

    • Is there something wrong with the daily streak? I know some people complain about missing days and not getting the rewards but that's the whole point of a daily streak. Was there something else about it that I haven't noticed?

    • It's been three weeks. We waited one week for our main developer to respond, as it can take upwards of a week to get a response from them. No response. We waited one week to get a response from the second developer. Told they are busy. Waited a week to hear from a potential third candidate. No response. The problem could have been fixed by the second or third developer, but unfortunately we struck out. We tried. It's now time to try finding someone outside our bubble of knowledge in the wider community.

YES, we will post here in the news when a new developer is found. Some empathy would be appreciated, it has been extremely frustrating for the staff to not be able to implement the things we want to implement to fix let alone improve the game, simply because no one we contact wants to respond to us. We want to improve things, fix lag, fix bugs, start events, this cannot happen when we don't even get the courtesy of a response.
