about- ribbons manifest from highly concentrated negative emotions. once they have come into existence, they seek out a single human, whom they will attach themselves to for the rest of their lives.

not quite a normal animal, ribbons do not mature over time. there are two versions of maturity: lesser, and monstrous. lesser ribbons are weaker and cause much less harm to their human. however, they feed off of that human's emotional energy, causing them to feel drained and tired in most cases.

after a long period of time and energy feeding, the lesser ribbon will go into a short state of metamorphosis. this is where they grow stronger, with larger bodies, longer legs, and producing four brand new 'ribbons' from their backs.

the monstrous ribbon now acts as a deadweight to their person. they use their ribbon tails, after which they are named, to wrap around the host, allowing huge amounts of negative emotions to flow through them. each different ribbon emotion makes their human feel a certain way.

in anxiety's case, it is a constant feeling of impending doom and high stress levels.
