Incoming Sales Tax

Furvilla is in the process of implementing a FurCash sales tax for the user shops. When a player sells an item to another player for FurCash, a sales tax of 5% will be removed from the purchase price, and the remainder will be deposited into the shop till as normal. The goal of this addition is to help sink small amounts of FurCash and ensure the strength of the currency. When calculating the tax, it will be 5% of the total, rounded down, with a minimum of 1 FurCash.

This change will be implemented in forty-eight hours or at 2:00 AM Furvilla Time on August 17th, so please be sure to alter your item prices if desired before that deadline.

In addition, the Moth Morphing Potion has been released into Olde Foxbury, and three new species colors are released -- Culpeo Fox, Long Eared Owl, and Osprey Raptor. We have also completed construction of the Trades page, which allows players to trade villagers, items, and currency freely. The link to the Trades page is located on the Town Hall.

    • While I don't mind a sales tax much, I don't see what this is trying to accomplish. At most it might inconvenience a new player (for when a theoretical open beta begins) and at least does nothing to people who have already accumulated a ton of FC. If anything this may just drive away a few more people that are left, whom, because we're in closed beta, are not going to be replaced with anyone new anytime soon.
      That being said, I'm glad the devs are noticing an economy issue, though they aren't handling it in a way that addresses the issue.


    • Um, there's no surplus of money in the economy, if there was we'd be seeing inflation, not deflation.

      Prices are already in freefall.


    • oh no you're taking an arbitrarily tiny amount of my fake money away from my fake store selling fake items. Whatever shall i do? I'm going to open a fake bank account in fake switzerland and put all my fake money there instead.


    • Oh, taxes? UNACCEPTABLE! The HORROR of any sort of change to the stuff we have now! How dare the devs change their own game!


    • Please open beta again; only a few hundred users ever get on to buy anything anyway!


    • I'm a bit surprised by how surprised everyone seems to be by the sales tax. I've never been on a multiplayer game or site that didn't have sales tax, it's not as if this is out of the ordinary. Also that owl is adorable and I think I might get one. ^_^


    • Right now the biggest money sinks are hyper-expensive costumes ($7,500FC taxes on a 150kFC Galaxy Costume) and the many species change potions to reset our villagers species so they can wear career buff costumes (since costumes are only supported on … what … five species?) Hopefully the costume's artist will increase species support (more images). Had to bunnify my raccoons because raccoons can't career-buff-costume, but bunnies can.
